1st Test: England v Australia at Nottingham Jul 10-14, 2013

Aleem Dar! DRS is there to prevent howlers but its time that the ICC bring in some norms allowing the 3rd umpire to intervene against something like this. Its shambolic.

When a keeper claims a false catch like was the case with Dinesh Ramdin during the ICC CT, he got banned for 2 games. Why should the rules be any different for batsmen? I`m not speaking about thin nicks where batsmen may not have any idea. In this case, he hit the cover of it and so was the case with De Villiers in the video. Clarke himself stood his ground after edging Kumble to first slip during the infamous 2008 SCG test.

Aleem Darr has previous history. Check this! AB Deviliiers once hit the cover of the ball and hit it to first slip and was given not out!

Well I guess you can say that it's Dar's fault for missing the nick and Australia's for burning their reviews but in terms of setting the tone for the series I think Broad should have chosen to walk.
Winning at all costs isn't the way we want to win.

Anybody, but Aleem Dar:facepalm
Do remember that, was a shocker. Saffers batting was already in shambles, and then this happened!

Broad showed a lot of promise as a batsmen. Although not expected a lot from him these days, but we shouldn't be surprised at all if he adds some more. Was just looking how his batting suddenly hit a low after England's home series against India ( where he was MoS for his all-round show). Has made only a single test fifty since then.

Haha Stuard Broad is a scumbag. It's not Australia's fault, that nick was so huge that even Raina's nephew would have given that out.

Like father like son

Chris Broad was a cheat and so is his son. If you dont walk when you know you've hit the ball you've decided to cheat your way to victory.

It doesnt balance out the third umpire errors. They were honest mistakes.

We all know Broad's a bit of a *insert bad word here* and ideally, he would have walked, as all batsmen would in an ideal world.

But I will say, what goes around, comes around. Especially to Michael Clarke.

Barely anyone in cricket walks nowadays, as a batsman it's not your job to umpire the game.

Although Australia have got Erasmus to thank for still being in this game, if he had given Agar out when he was stumped then England would be approaching a 400 run lead.

Aus will be fuming for sure, but they've still had the run of the green in terms of umpiring decisions.

The Howler Monkeys have found voice.

Gilchrist walked a couple of times, no one else has, so a bit much to expect Broad to be the only walker in a world of those who "respect the umpire's decision".

Michael Clarke should be the last man to be complaining about nicking it and not walking. Aussies, SCG 2008. What goes around comes around.

That's crap. Australia pioneered not walking when you know you're not out.
It doesn't balance out the third umpire errors but England got two harsh decisions from Erasmus with video replays whereas Dar made an error in real time and Aus has blown their reviews on careless calls.

2 wrongs don't make a right barmy. Cast your mind back to 2011 when Ian bell was stumped against india. Everyone screamed for the spirit of cricket to be upheld. England are such a two faced set up.

well the general spirit of cricket now is not to walk, rarely do people walk.

there's no consensus or gentleman's agreement to walk, so while his behaviour is far from exemplary it's hardly evil either.

There's plenty of precedent on the Bell stumping and spirit of cricket is enshrined in the laws. It would be great if everyone walked and as I've said I think Broad should have, I'm just objecting to the pretence that anyone else would have walked in that position (on either team).

No it's not evil, but after all the "cry baby" things England have moaned about in the past, it's always a different story when it's done by them.
I'm a West Indies fan, and what ramdin did in the champions trophy WAS evil. He was banned, so should broad be.
