Match 15 Group B

Australia (Thandamilk) vs Bangaldesh (LegendBoy20)
at Sydney, Australia

Toss: Australia

AUS 227/8 in 20.0
Ponting 126* (63)

beat

Bangaldesh 45/9 in 11.2

by TBD.

MoM: Ricky Ponting

---------------------

Australia batted first on a day 3 Sydney wicket under an overcast sky. Australia's was a strange innings - characterized by periods of early and late bursts with a sluggish middle that saw Bangladesh keep the pressure on with a steady trickle of wickets. The Aussies found their hero in Ponting, who came in at 2 down and batted through the Aussie innings. With a 20+ run last over, Ponting gave the Aussies the momentum going into the innings break.

Bangladesh had batted marvelously in their previous encounter with the Aussies, getting close to the 200+ total then. Today they faltered in their chase early and never recovered.

At 45/9 in 11.2 play was interrupted by the Codies' servers acting up. LB graciously suggested that I be awarded the win.

Request the D/L method experts to figure out what LB's final score should be and accordingly cacluate the margin of victory.

Cheers LB, good game. It was lagging a bit and that took some of the fun away from the game but I got used to it as the game went on. I think you may've lost a wicket or two to lag as well.

Group B Match 16

Australia (Thandamilk) vs South Africa (Psymax78)
at Sydney, Australia

Toss: South Africa

SAF 148 all out in 17.5
Gibbs 50 (39), Clark 4/29, Johnson 2/5

lost to

AUS 151/4 in 15.1
North 51 (35), Johnson 44 (39), White 24 (8), Kallis 1/21, Steyn 1/17

by 6 wickets

MoM: M Johnson

----------

Australia, in a spot of bother in Group B with 3 losses from 6 matches, pretty much need to win all their matches to have any chance of qualifying through to the super 6s.

South Africa won the toss, batted first and started to put together a solid foundation for a huge total. At the 10 over mark they were going close to 10 runs an over and a 200+ total was on the cards with only a few wickets lost and the deepest batting order in the tourney. Gibbs starred with a classy half century. The last 10 overs didn't produce as many as SAF would've hoped and between a dangerous Clark and a miserly Johnson, they managed 148 from their 20 overs - a competitive total nonetheless, and a huge improvement from their earlier outings in the tourney.

The Aussies started cautiously against the wily Springbok seamers, intent not to lose early wickets even if it meant a slow start. Johnson (sent opening) and North (1 drop) opened their shoulders with the introduction of spin and continued to milk the seamers at the other end, easing the required run rate a bit. Though North and Johnson both departed with the score at around a 100, White's whirlwind 24 from 8 balls saw the Aussies home with enough to spare.

Match 7 Group A
Ireland(xtremedesix) vs India(lilas11)

Venue: Kolkata (hosted by Ireland
Toss: Ireland(elected to bat)

Ireland 103 all out in 12.5 overs
O brien 40
I Pathan 5/35

India 106/4 in 6 overs
V Sewagh 52
T Johnson 3/45(3)

Result:
India won by 6 wickets
Points: Ind 3 Ire 0

Match Report: Ireland kicked of their campaign at the Championship with an aggressive start. After electing to bat first Ireland got off to a good start mantaining a run rate over 9. At the halfway mark they had the advantage with the score at 92/4 with O Brien well set on 40 and India finishing 8 of their 12 overs medium pace overs. Pathan helped India make a comeback picking up 3 wickets in the 11 over with the spinners picking up the remaining 3. Ireland finished off at 103 in the 12th over.
In response India came out with an attacking mindset trying to improve their run rate. The runs kept coming with a stroke filled 50 by Sewagh but wickets kept falling at the other end. India were able to finish off the game within the powerplay overs with 6 wickets remaining.

@xtremedesix: gg mate.. I think u became too agressive after a great start should have concentrated on playing out the 20 overs. Good luck for your other games. Hope you can complete a few more games today and look forward to some more snow days for u so we can have you around more :)
