2nd PS3 T20 Champions Trophy- Completed

After discussing among each other, Leftarmfast and I decided to replay our game from scratch just to mend things between us. So Lilas, when you update the points table, please ignore the previous score report which I sent yesterday.

Also just wanted to point out to please make sure you are aware of the tourney rules. No fast bowlers against kenya, bangladesh, zim or ireland. LAF was not aware of it and used 1 over of fast bowler against me. I was ok with it as he didn't know. But make sure this is not repeated in the future.

Match Report: Kenya had come into this game with 4 wins out of 4, and won most of them comprehensivley at that, so the odds were on them once again to over haul West Indies for the second time in the Championship. West Indies had other ideas on their mind, their confidence was again on the high after a great batting display against Bangladesh. In front of an juberant home crowd West Indies were put into bat on a amazing batting surface, Kenya were sticking to there tried and tested formula of bowling first but it was only a matter of time it back fired.

There has been much talk about Kenya's attacking feild tactics, but West Indies matched it with a dazzling display of attacking batting, they lofted the ball in the ever so narrow gaps, and piled up a flurry of boundries to put the pressure on Kenya early on, however some early wickets had West Indies in a slight spot of bother at 56/3 with the top 3 back in the shed, but Sarwan and in form Nash, put togather a breath taking 114 partnership which rocketed them to 170/4 with over 8 overs to go, Sawrwan doing most of the damage, ending with a match winning 110 from only 45 balls. With Nash still at the crease and Chanderpaul, Gayle, Chittorgon, Backler still to come the platform was set to launch with a total of 300 in mind, but Kenya fought back removing both Chanderpaul and Gayle first ball, and Chittorgon falling for only 5 followed by the wicket of Nash for a well played 52, West Indies found themselves suddenly 226/8 with 4 overs to spare, 250 was looking a distant score. But Backler took charge, launching masses of sixes, giving West Indies that final push, the last over went for 31, with 4 sixes, and bought up Backlers fifty before he was removed with 2 balls to go. West Indies finished with a massive 278/9, the highest score of the tournament to date.

It was down to Kenya's batsman to make up for the poor display from their bowlers, but with a mountain to climb, and the pressure of a high scoring run chase, they lost their way helped by some good bowling again by Rouch who picked up 4 wickets, Kenya found themselves 7 for 27 at one stage, and were looking to get bowled out for the lowest score of the competition, but with victory out of reach the lower order batsman began to play steadily to achieve some sort of respectable total, a 51 run partnership for the 9th wicket, and some good hitting from Tikolo got them into 3 figures, they were finally bowled out for 113, a long way short from their target.

This victory will mean alot to the Windies, Kenya had become the team to beat in group B and West Indies have done just that, with 4 games to go, 2 each against South Africa and England, and with a healthy NRR so far they are looking well placed to make it to the next round. But they will be aware that there is still alot to do.

Khlaid_45

I will be away from my PS3 untill the evening so if any one can message these guys letting them know that South Africa is available, would be great.

Its not surprising that psymax has pulled out, he has not particpiated in this thread at all, thats why i stressed to begin with that all players should be required to atleast confirm their participation on this thread.

Good to see issue between legendzee and cheesearni being sorted out. Look forward to the score once game has been complete. I hope everyone is now aware of the rule for lost connection.

Glad Hmarka is willing to continue and Krish has given him a rematch. Regarding field settings everyone is using these field settings in the tourney and I don’t think they are unfair how many times in real cricket u see the batsmen hitting a perfect shots to a fielder, its not just timing its also placing the ball.
Also in real cricket so many times you have attacking fields its upto the player to go over the top or bind his time till the fields open up. I think the option of having all fielders inside for the first 6 overs makes it more real in the sense you need to plan your innings and not just slog every ball.
Also its no like you cant score runs with their fielders in. Even with these fields people are scoring 40-50 runs in the power pla. You just need to chose the right shot(read placing) which is the skill.

In fact from one of the previous tourneys you yourself felt Hmarka that there is a counter to ever field settings
Just wanted to let you know that there is a counter attack to every field setting and bowling plan in the game. Gougie just scored over 130

I am quite surprised the issue has even come up since the rules were quite clear from the onset and more so since there was never a problem in the first tourney where there were no field restriction even after the first 6 overs, though some people did not like lonewolfs tactics of having attacking fields even after the powerplay overs however in no way did anyone feel he is unfair and he was def playing within the rules of the tourney. However for the same reason in this tourney we have added the rule of 2 fielders outside compulsory after the powerplay overs.
I hope everyone is clear on field setting and a similar issue doesn’t crop up again.

@ RIZZYX
i will play south africa, c ya guys . hope to win this :laugh
