4th Test: England v Australia at Leeds

The question is whether Mendis will even be in the team. If another team has a series like Pakistan have had, he might be squeezed out.

Mendis will play against New Zealand and most likely destroy us. Sri Lanka only left him out because Pakistan seem to have figured him out. He'll play against teams that he hasn't played much against.

And North makes another 50.

Class player North. Loved him ever since he played for Lancs a few years ago.

Proper gash this morning from our bowlers. I can take being outplayed, but our players have just completely threw the towel in. Disgraceful.

Gotta love Clarke, always teases the English :p At least a 100 more runs by these two then the guys coming in can really pick up the scoring rate.

Clarke gone. Looked the part today Clarke, England have bowled poorly, but he has actually looked like a genuinely class, dominant player. Deserved a hundred. Good delivery from Onions though, showing the worth of pitching the bloody thing up.

Whoa someone remembered how to bowl. Onions generally bowled full, but bowling straighter he had Clarke less comfortable.

I set the stats-guru to bowlers who have taken over 20 wickets and bowl at position 1 to 4 in the last 3 years. Harmison has played pretty regularly in the England side since over that period of time, only having a few spells of time out of the side before coming back in. So that's 4, and Fernando would have been more regular in the Sri Lankan side if he was fit. He's played 8 Tests, and taken 16 wickets at 49, that's much worse than Broad. Bravo has also been one of West Indies 4 frontline seamers in the last few years, so I don't see why he shouldn't count.

Not sure why I'm defending Broad really, as I don't think he should be in the side. But just making the point that he is far from the worst bowler in International cricket, especially given his record in ODi's.

50 for North. More runs when the bowlers have bowled awfully. Still waiting to see him score runs against good bowling....

You're joking right?

Edwards, Powell, Taylor.

Bravo's in the team to bowl 10-15 overs a game. Unlike Broad he's in the team as an all-rounder, he could make the team as a batsman alone I think.

He isn't a frontline bowler, it's pretty simple really.

Fernando wouldn't make the Sri Lankan test team at the moment either, how long is it since he's even played a test?

He's been one of the Windies 4 frontline seamers. He's not a part-timer, like Fred he's in as an all-rounder, which I believe should allow him to be counted in this.

Not sure when Fernando last played a game, but he's got a rubbish record so it helps make Broad look slightly better :p

Excellent bowling from Onions though. I think he's one West Indies destroyer who's shown his worth. Like the look of him. Bowls long spells too. Lot to admire about the bloke.

With every passing day, it seems that I fail to understand what Michael Holding is trying to say even more.

Warne is spot on, Strauss showed so much faith in him in the previous Tests by opening the day with Onions. Suddenly hes dropped to 1st change, very strange captaincy. And his field placing have been poor, shouldn't be protecting a bad ball.

What's he saying? I'm on cricinfo now
Sister is watching that crappy Lohan movie: cheap girls or something.

I'll sum it up for ya. Strauss is a twat for getting Broad to bowl wide, giving England no chance to get a wicket. Onions has deserved a wicket for bowling straight and full.

You can tell Bumble can't remember how Pattinson bowls. Just used his stock line 'a strong, solid action'. North's 'organised' as well btw. :facepalm

Ultimately, the commentary I will remember Holding most for is "dey are happy pigeons".
