Mixed Bag for the Saffers

Pieter Malan made a big impact

Mixed Season II for South Africa A, some results went our way while others did not. The coach's new player recruitment drive worked brilliantly to a extent as the team found Pieter Malan who played extremely well at the top of the order filling that opening spot which was vacant for quite some time. Although he still needs a few more matches under his belt before he's ready to play first class.

Overall South Africa moved up the ODI ladder, by losing only one match out of eleven. This includes whitewashes over the West Indies & Pakistan. It'll be along time before someone even gets close to our ranking as we're 31.5 points in front of the pack.

Although we had great success in the One-Dayers, we struggled in the other two formats we managed to win only 1 test match and 3 T20's. We really need to work on our first class game though as winning 1 test out of 9 is simply not good enough and much more is expected by the south african support and indeed the world.

Few Players too look out for in Season III

Imran Tahir - Although he was a shock late addition to the T20 squad he bowled brilliant leggies to pick up wickets while being economical all the same. He'll be looking to cement his spot as the second spinner for the 5 dayers and maybe even the one-day side.

Dale Steyn - Had a fairly quite season, and after a string of bad performances he was dropped and never to be seen again. He'll be itching to get back and bowl for us.

Hashim Amla - Went of the radar a bit after Phase I due to his national duties and then later his injury to the knee. He is a great inspirational captain who is raring to get back and start scoring runs again.

So overall a mixed season comes to an end, and Varun has done a great job with the league and i thank him for another great season :thumbs. Season III will be the one where the saffers will rule the rankings in all the three formats !

I have a doubt, after this season gets over, do the rankings carry over for next season or will it be fresh rankings for every team ??

I'm not feeling like posting the matches today. Will post them from tomorrow.:)
