A Leftie's draft

Some of you may question this decision, but I actually think it's a pretty smart move. I have two strike bowlers up front, and to support them, I choose Bill Johnston.

I'll question it: why the hell are you picking another bowler? I was hoping you'd let him slide to me :crying NOW you've definitely got the best pace attack. Of the 5 pacemen I wanted, you've got 3 of them. At least I've got my favourite guy though, ol' Davo.

Stuff! I wanted Bill Johnston and Bruce Reid. My list of left arm bowlers is getting smaller and smaller. Maybe I'll just pick 11 batsmen... :laugh

Same here. Just waiting on send2yaari. He's only got another 6 or odd hours to make his pick.

Send2yaari has failed to make his pick in the 24 hour time frame. I suppose that he will be able to make this pick at the end of round 11. That's the only fair punishment. 24 hours is a long time. It is now Iridium's turn.

Yep, correct. He'll get a pick in a 12th round, where all the criminals get to pick :D Go for it Iridium.

Sweet, my turn. My pick is Shivnarine Chanderpaul

Chanderpaul has been a rare glimmer of light in the dark that is West Indies cricket of late. His stodgy defense has saved the Windies from total humiliation on many occasions. That's not to say all he knows is defense. He currently sits fourth on the list of fastest Test centuries, his coming off 69 balls against Australia in Georgetown back in 2003. Despite holding up the Windies batting order, he has scored 8969 runs @ 49.28. Mighty impressive for someone with the crabbiest batting technique in cricket.

Nice pick buddy. He was definitely my next batsman on the list. He's an underrated player.

Zaheer Khan

Mitchell Johnson

To partner Alan Davidson's accuracy, efficiency and late swing I've gone for pure strike bowling ability of Mitchell Johnson. Mitch is arguably the fastest left armer in history, capable of pushing the speed gun into the low 150s. Couple that raw pace with his strange delivery point he surprises batsmen a lot with his bounce and angle. Mitch also has a very respectable record in an era dominated by big scores. He recently became the quickest left armer to reach 150 wickets - in just 34 Tests (ahead of Bill Johnston and Alan Davidson for those playing at home). He also has a very impressive strike rate of 52.1, better than the legendary Wasim Akram and only bettered by left arm quicks who took a lot less wickets and bowled a long time ago. He's also very good in the field, with a rocket for an arm and he is destructive with the bat with a Test century to his name against a good SA attack. On top of all that - the kid hasn't even reached his potential yet, with bat or ball. I'm very glad to have gotten him, even though it means I've only got one Aussie slot left :(

Man I am running desperately low on bowlers. I was torn between Chanderpaul or Zaheer. Johnson was on my list as well but a bit lower down.
