Random Country Test Draft -- DONE. Time for comments/discussion

Might as well add my write-up:

ZoraxDoom
Herbert Sutcliffe
Stewie Dempster
Jacques Kallis
George Headley
Keith Miller (*)
Archie Jackson
Kapil Dev
Prasanna Jayawardene (+)
Malcom Marshall
Fazal Mahmood
Hedley Verity

A few excellent picks mixed in with some strange ones. Dempster was probably a forced pick, but I'm not a fan of the Jackson, Jayawardene and Verity picks. George Headley and Malcolm Marshall were excellent picks, and the 2 guys I would have wanted if I hadn't have got Sobers. Overall a decent side, but let down by a few strange selections.

Excellent bowling attack rich in quality pace, Vettori's not the strongest of spinners, but has proven for NZ when bowling alongside Bond (62 wickets at 24.74 with Bond in the same team), that his performances improve when he has the backing of other quality bowlers, so he was an excellent pick, especially when you factor in his batting and leadership. The batting order is sure to sell tickets, but Gower looked like a batting genius when he got going, but far too often fell foul to throwing his wicket away. Also not a huge fan of the opening partnership, but again, they'd be entertaining as hell to watch. So I'd say Dutchy has easily the most entertaining side to watch.

Cricketman
Sir Jack Hobbs
Vinoo Mankad
Brian Lara
Rohan Kanhai
Steve Waugh*
Aravinda De Silva
Alan Knott (+)
Shaun Pollock
Shane Warne
Wasim Akram
Shane Bond

Overall pretty strong without being an exceptional side. The opening partnership is good, the middle order is excellent in parts, decent in others, the keeper is excellent and the bowling attack strong. Decent side without standing-out too much.

King Pietersen
Barry Richards
Ken Barrington
Neil Harvey
Martin Crowe
Sir Garfield Sobers
Adam Gilchrist +
Imran Khan
Chaminda Vaas
George Lohmann
Joel Garner
Subhash Gupte

Best side of the lot :spy Depth in batting with Imran at 7 and Vaas at 8, 6 genuine bowling options, a legend of an opening batsman in Richards, a very strong batting line-up and arguably the greatest wicketkeeper-batsman to play the game. Possibly let down by the selection of Lohmann, but he must have been a mighty fine bowler to have averaged 10.75 in Test cricket, irrespective of the conditions. He was easily the stand-out bowler of his generation, and although his effectiveness on modern wickets could be argued, he is highly regarded, and rightly so. Also have the bloke that many regard as India's greatest spinner in there as well. Awesome side :p

Dare
Geoff Boycott
Matthew Hayden
Wally Hammond
Rahul Dravid
Mahela Jayawardene *
Clyde Walcott +
Richard Hadlee 1
Clarrie Grimmett
Waqar Younis
Allan Donald 2
Courtney Walsh

Another decent side without being spectacular. The top 4 are excellent; Jayawardene has been excellent in the subcontinent; Walcott's an ok pick, but wasn't an exceptional wicket-keeper; but the bowling attack personifies class. Hadlee, Waqar, Donald and Walsh is sure to strike fear into any batting line-up, and that's without mentioning the masterful Grimmett. Good side.

hMarka
Sir Len Hutton (c)
Hanif Mohammad
Greg Chappell
Everton Weekes
Sir Frank Worrell
Kumar Sangakarra (wk)
Nathan Astle
Anil Kumble
Dale Steyn
Fred Trueman
Glenn Mcgrath

Another very good side. Possibly let down by the selections of Astle and Kumble given there were better options available at the time, but Greg Chappell, Everton Weekes, Fred Trueman, Glen McGrath and Len Hutton were all greats of their time, and greats of the game. Very good team.

Shravi
Sunil Gavaskar
Gordon Greenidge
Sir Vivian Richards
Graeme Pollock
Javed Miandad
Allan Border
+ Brendon McCullum
Harold Larwood
Dennis Lillee
Muttiah Muralitharan
Sydney Barnes

Another excellent team. A very talented opening pair; Pollock, Richards, Miandad and Border make up a brilliant middle-order and the bowling attack is nothing short of superb. My 1 criticism would be the selection of Brendon McCullum, who's position would be contested in a NZ All-time XI, let alone an overall All-time XI. Other than that though, it's a very good side.

So, to sum-up, I'd say Dutchy's side takes it. Has a fine mix of talent, consistent performers and entertainers. Of all the sides I'd like to watch his in action the most. That middle order would be a fantastic sight. Tendulkar batting alongside Gower would be a joy to behold. Awesome stuff Dutchy!

Bah, no one agrees on my Verity and Jayawardene picks. :( Only one guy appreciated my Jackson pick, but didn't leave his name when he repped me for it.

Screw you all, I bet my side would probably win a real match between these sides :p

Eh, I think the best matchup would be myself and Shravi. I think they are quite even strength to strength.

Dare's would put up one hell of a fight too.
