Bapu Nadkarni
Nadkarni was the games most miserly bowler ever, with an economy rate of just 1.67 runs per over. Who could forget "that" Madras test, where he bowled 32 overs for just 5 runs, including a whopping 21 maidens on the trot? He was a fine wicket taker too, with a test match bowling average of just 29.
Although he was known for his wily, controlled left arm off spin, Bapu was a fine allrounder as well. 7 international 50s and a hundred against a quality English attack prove his worth with the willow, and a FC batting average of over 40 with a highest of 283* against Delhi shows his true potential.
With Nadkarni in my side, I have a bowler to control and frustrate the batsman, forcing them into making needless mistakes; whilst the likes of Nissar, Kapil, and Prasanna are there to take wickets. He also extends my batting all the way to number 9.
