Generation Draft - COMPLETED!!

My team needed a spin bowler and Tich Freeman was absolutely ideal for my team. One of the finest spinners of his time, getting 66 INT wickets and 3776 FC wickets in 12 and 592 matches respectively. His FC bowling average is very special as he averages 18.42 with the ball and his economy was 2.69 RPO. Truly sensational spin bowler, Tich Freeman was! :)

Ted Dexter can be called an all rounder. He has 51 FC centuries to his name to go with his 419 FC wickets. He fits extremely well to my side as he not only makes the batting stronger but also gives the team an extra bowling option, which is helpful for any side. :)

Oh and War, trust you to go for an XI without a specialist spinner :lol

Ha more of coincidence rather than deliberate on my part. The three-spinners i wanted to pick at various points in the draft in Benaud, Rhodes and Trumble got taken.

This draft looks lik it must have been good to be part of - hats off to Papa Smurf.

Thank goodness this draft finished a few days ago, I've been really stretched this week and it seems many other have too. Will do a bit more of an in depth look if I get the time, but at the moment I'd say my momentary 2nd favourite XI is shravi's. Faulkner and Gilchrist help to give excellent balance.

What's your final XI swacker because it looks like you've picked about 7 middle order batsmen! Couldn't find any openers or bowlers you liked? :D

Yeah I think you're right I just couldn't find any openers and that'll be that. :spy

It's pretty much like this:

#04 Viv Richards
#05 Jacques Kallis
#06 Allan Steel
#07 Rod Marsh (wk)
#08 George Ulyett
#09 Maurice Tate
#10 Warwick Armstrong
#11 Neil Adcock

I think you'll find Warwick Armstrong was a pretty good bat- he averaged almost 40 and made a few centuries, certainly deserves to be ahead of Rod Marsh.

Of course the way to win these statistical analysis is to pick lots of old time bowlers and then pick up modern batsmen, because the stats favour those eras generally. That's what User and Aoun have done for the most part and that's why they are near the top of both the batting and bowling average summaries. But does that give them the best teams?? Stats often oversimplify things, when there are other important factors that make a good team: balance of the lineup, fielding ability, batting of the tail, leadership and morale, ability to excel in many different conditions etc.

609 - Swacker (Ulyett, Steel and Kallis as 3rd, 4th and 5th lol)

Looks a bit unlikely I'd say
