If i am right, Eli got one wickt now... :) I am proud to be one of the strong supporters of Eli in Eli-Andrew issue! :p

Eli gets his first ever wicket on his fifth ball :)
And it is almost exactly how like Monty got Kaif out...
14.5 W Eli to Clairmonte
Bowled. Any time you see a spinner persuade a batsman to offer what seems to be the perfect defensive shot and there is a crash of ash, you know you've seen something special
The only difference is that in RL Giles didn't retire. Over here, the Gilo retired ;)

And heres Eli's second wicket

22.4 W Eli to Arber
Attempted sweep by Arber, bottom edged in to his boot, loops up and an amazing, swooping catch by Abdeen! Referred to the third umpire to check it didn't hit the floor.... OUT!

And he finishes with figures of Eli 5-0-20-2

well bowled on debut :clap :clap

A disappointing match, in that this was supposed to be one of the most closely competed matches of the season, but ended up a one-sided drubbing.
Bill Tuckett called correctly yet again, and elected to bowl one what seemed like a terrible pitch. It was all ripped up and ragged, practically anything would spin. Batting would not be easy, especially which team team carrying a formidable spin attack. A score of 150 would be good, and the goal should have been to bat all 50 overs. The Pirates couldn't even manage half of that. Rudi bowled with excellent control, giving nothing away till Lyon decided to try and risk his arm and picked up 2 boundaries in one over. Abdeen stood up to the stumps right from the start, and Rudi cut down on his pace and let the pitch do the rest. He got the Pirates' star batsmen Hutchson bowled with an absolute beauty, one which swung, nipped back in, and skidded off the pitch. Folkes bowled with reasonable pace, although was a bit wide at times.
Tuckett brought himself into the attack, and the batting just combusted from there. From 34/3, they went to 39/5 in the space of a few manic overs. The stage was perfect for debutant spinner Xavier Eli to get a bowl. And get a bowl he did, and struck gold with his 5th ball with an absolute gem of a delivery, which pitched near the batsmen's feet from over the wicket, and spun and bounced sharply across the pefectly straight bat to knock over the offstump. Absolutely marvellous. He proceeded to pick up another wicket, Arber sweeping onto his boot and Abdeen grabbing a brilliant catch. Abdeen kept wicket pretty well today, and looks like a long term prospect. Crouch cleaned up the tail with tight swinging deliveries, which slowed upon pitching and had the batsmen through their shots before it reached them!
In reply, with a small target to chase, the Lions took 18.3 overs and lost 4 wickets. Rather suprising, but a win is a win. Whing didn't countinue his fine form, went forward for the drive and was caught just short of his crease. Abeen struggled and was plun in front to the top spinner. Gallagher found the edge, but Rudi kept his cool and batted very well for his 24 before playing a poor sweep shot with victory just in sight. But Finlayson walked out and struck two boundaries, and with Crouch sealed the deal. A good win, the Lions look a cert to promote now.

Fantastic. Strong/Strong bowling, and batting looking better, although it still needs a lot of work.

Attendance:

Great attendance, too bad the crowd would have been quite dissapointed. Also, the Pirates get a nice big wad of cash...

Round three, now it gets tricky. The Golden Eagles aren't a side to be written off. Mainly due to two names - Rob Zweni and Geoff Harris. Both strike fear in the heart of most leage teams in West Indies.
Geoff Harris is the West Indies International Team backup wicketkeeper/batsman, and he is a fabulous batsman, yet to be dismissed this whole season. And most of last season too. A tremendous batsman, dismissing him would be the key to victory.
Then comes Rob Zweni. A truely Remarkable (*Hint hint*) allrounder. He is the only genuine threat in the bowling department, and with Harris carries the batting lineup.
So the key to winning this match will to face off Zweni's 10 overs and pulverise the rest of the bowling, and to dismiss Harris and Zweni quickly. If the Lions accomplish that, they are in Round 4. If they don't, they may end up playing Everton or The Falcons next Sunday.
At last look, the ratings for a full-strength team went:
Code:
		[B]TT Lions	Golden Eagles[/B]

[B]Top Order:[/B]	competent mediocre
[B]Middle Order:[/B]	competent proficient
[B]Lower Order:[/B]	abysmal abysmal
[B]Seam Bowling:[/B]	strong respectable
[B]Spin Bowling:[/B]	strong competent
[B]Fielding:[/B] feeble feeble
The Lions clearly have the edge in bowling. They lose out in batting, but the massive difference in the bowling means the Lions are technically the better team. However, just two names, Harris and Zweni, make the Golden Eagles unstoppable. The Lions don't have any bowlers or batsmen of skill on par of them, but they are good enough to thrash the rest of the team. If these two have an off day, it is all over for the Eagles.

Playing XI (Expected): Whing, Abdeen (+), Rudi, Gallagher, Crouch, Finlayson, Shipp, Spearitt, Eli, Tuckett (*), Folkes.

Sunday's Youth

I didn't have much ITS left over this week, so I told the coach not to wast...umm...invest any in today's pull. And...
Warren Weston (1088340)
RH Batsman, RM Bowler, respectable batting form, respectable bowling form, changeable
A cautious player with competent leadership skills and abysmal experience.

Plays For: TT Lions
Nationality: West Indies
Age: 17 Years Old
Battrick Rating: 4,272
Wages: ?852 p/w
The Coach's thoughts on Warren here:
Haha. Zorax will bee regrettin' not puttin any ITS on zis bloke. 'ee is a very, very talented batsman. Bit unfit, but very talented. Zorax missed a trick there...hee hee hee...
My thoughts:
Darn. What a player. Excellent batsman trainee, and I didn't give him any ITS! Ah, oh well, maybe he'll find a good home elsewhere.

Join us next week to see what the Academy can produce!
