I rested all the key stars. He wanted a weakers side, seeing his team is still new. I won nevertheless.
Review is tommorrow, today is:

Sunday's Youth

I'm saving up my ITS for a good 20 YO player, so no ITS on today's player. I would most likely end up selling the player if he were any good, so I don't mind...
Justin Abraham (1098247)
RH Batsman, RH Spin Bowler, respectable batting form, respectable bowling form, changeable
A cautious player with competent leadership skills and abysmal experience.

Plays For: TT Lions
Nationality: West Indies
Age: 17 Years Old
Battrick Rating: 1,327
Wages: ?289 p/w
The Coach's thoughts on Justin here:
Well,'ee isn't much good for anything, now iz he? But 'ee keeps wicket, albeit not too well, but that iz his strongest suit.
My thoughts:
Not a good enough player. Can keep wicket, would have been OK with ITS, but he just isn't good enough now. No team would buy him, so he is going to be fired.

TT Lions vs. Wales CC

A rather simple win in what was a rather queer match. Giddings fine century and Runako Atkinson's four late wickets led a second XI TT Lions to a comfortable 7 wicket victory.
Arthur Dennis won the toss and elected to field on a hard and dusty pitch, his reason being to use up some of the early moisture to assist the seam bowlers. But Wallis and Oneil thwarted those plans with a fine opening stand, picking up 71 runs withing the first 15. However, Abdeen struck in the 16th over, when he clean bowled Wallis with a beauty of an inswinger. The Sri Lankan keeper struggled for line and length in his first few overs and showed signs of rustiness before hitting his straps and bowling a rather fine spell. Eli kept the runs down well from his end, although failed to rip through the lineup as he would have wished and picked up just 2 wickets. Newby didn't find the conditions to his liking, and was milked for 54 easy runs. At 205/5 and entering the last 10, a 250+ score was on the cards for Wales CC. But the Lions had other plans, and some fantastic death bowling from Atkinson and Drayton initiated a fantastic collapse to restrict Wales CC to a sub-par score of 222. Pienaar, quite easily the finest batsman in the team, batted beautifully and almost effortlessly for his 73, and apart from the openers, there were not many other notable contributions.
Set a chaseable target, the Lions got off to a steady start with 65 runs for the first wicket, Giddings on debut doing the bulk of the scoring. Spearitt misjudged a wonder slower ball from Anthony to hand Wales CC their first strike, and you felt they were in with a chance. After all, the Lions batting lineup was without Crouch, Rudi, Whing and Gallagher, and so a collapse couldn't be completely ruled out. Abdeen got into a groove, but was out LBW yet again. It is developing into a problem which he would have to work on. Bunn struggled to get going, and just chipped spinner Crookes into the safe hands of Oneil at Mid-on. But this didn't phase Giddings, who continued to batter the bowling freely. Newby got into the act with a flurry of boundaries off Westlake and David, and together the pair shut Wales CC out of the match with a belligerent 73 run partnership.

Quite low, but not bad for a second XI. Giddings getting MOTM, could he be the answer to the Lion's batting woes?

Attendance:

Well, what do you expect from a relatively unknown team with a small ground? Only just under 3K for me.

Join us on Friday when the Lions take on the so-called untouchables!

Looking at the Ground attendance, i guess the match shd have been like WestIndies Vs Pakistan Test match in Sharjah where the ground made debut in test but very very very less ppl turned up in hot conditions... Infact if remember rite 90% seats empty! ;)

Well, its a gud win for TTlions without Rudi & Crouch! :)

Saturday's Suprising Fact!

Today's juicy bit of gossip is on the Lion's hard-hitting middle order batsman Craig Bunn. You know those diners where they serve the 32 pound steak, and if you can finish it in one sitting it is free? Well, Craig Bunn did it. Thrice. In the same night...

Join us next week for another spicy Suprising Fact!

Mondays trip to the Nets.

Monday is the day on which the Training Updates occur on BT. It's when you get the see the fruit of all the net sessions you have invested in your players along with their hard work. If you are lucky, they may improve -or as it is know in Battrick jargon, 'pop'- in a skill.

Here are this week's trainees:
Mohaideen Abdeen (1 wicketkeeping net, 1 fitness net, 1 fielding net, 1 batting net): No pops, (BTR) increase.
Xavier Eli (2 bowling nets, 1 fitness net): Stamina pop, BTR increase.
Wavell Folkes (2 bowling nets, 1 fitness net): No pops, BTR increase

Abdeen still not popping. Quite worrying. He has to pop in the next week or so in order to reach where I want him to be by next season. Eli's pop is good though. A few more, and he gets the fielding net.

Is it due to this rule,

If you train too hard, it will tire the player rather than improve his fitness

I am not sure though :) Anyways it seems a tough week for Abdeen in nets due to strict coach :p India needs such a coach to train all the players like this :D

That is an interesting fact. I don't think anyone could do that though.
