Friday's Financial Report

financefk9.jpg

Things aren't looking to good. The recent signing of Giddings has really set me back a bit. I fear I may end up in debt by next week as I am currently interested in an other batsman, although I might not sign him if he gets too pricey. Today's game is not a home match, and the income from Sunday's game clearly won't be enough. Luckily I can got upto a max of 350K in debt, and my next week's fixture is a home match. I have two more away games after that, so I'll need to tighten the belt buckles and save up if I don't want to lose my team...

Will the Lions survive the week? Find out on the next

I hope so. Here is an interesting fact - Every batsman in my top 6 is a left-hander...
And why aren't you two on MSN? It's working now.

I feel sorry for this! Its tough time now that u are defending just 118... Well lets see whether bowling of TTL creates trouble.. If opponent loose 5 wkts in first 15, then, the game wud be in balance!

Sub-par score. Shouldn't have TIEd really. Rudi and Folkes need to strike early. His batting is about as good as mine, if not worse.

Well, TT lions have proved that they are not going to give it up anyways.. Excellent fight back to get 7 wickets in first 15 Overs.. Now its time to reach the victory line.. Com'on TTL.. u can do it! :)

A terrible performance with the bat was masked up by some brilliant bowling to help the Lions pull off a stunning and emphatic 52 run victory. After mustering a meagre 117 with the bat, the Lions bowlers roared in to skittle the untouchables for just 65 runs, turning what should have been a terrible loss due to a shambolic batting performance into a superb victory.
After winning the toss, Bill Tuckett decided to bat first, claiming he had some help from experienced warhead Arthur Dennis in making his decision. The pitch was terribly cracked up, and conditions partially cloudy. Difficult to bat, but not impossible. Pretty much anything above 200 would be considered defendable.
You'd wish someone had told that to the Lion's batsmen. After survivng two overs, Giddings attempted to flick one down to fine leg, but instead tickled one to the keeper who held an absolute blinder. Spearrit hung in for a while, but recieved a jaffa from Leacock. Whing fell next ball playing a poor shot, and it was 10/3, Crouch and Rudi batting. All the Lion's fans in the corwd went silent as the untouchables fans roared on.
But these two started re-building, and at 52/3 things were a little better. But the debutant Nhleko strikes gold twice, removing both Rudi and Crouch to poor shots, and the Lions were in serious dissarray at 53/5. Tom Gallagher decided that he would now give up scoring runs and bat for time. Admirable idea, if he had any partners. He did have Dennis for a while, who used all his experience and made batting look easy on this pitch in his brisk little innings, until he got a ball which didn't bounce and was trapped in front. Luck definately wasn't with the Lions, as the one man who looked like he could save the match walked back to the pavillion. Finlayson never looked comfortable, and edged behind playing a stupid shot, with over half the innings left to bat! Atkinson got out first ball playing a stupid shot too, and the score read a dismal 102/8. You would think Gallagher would try and score some runs now, but no such luck. Infact, Bill Tuckett was the only one who found the fence in this partneship, before missing a straight ball by trying to hit it for six. Gallagher was the last to fall, finally coming to his sense and trying to hit out, but getting out the second he tried too. 117 all out, the Lions fans were starting to leave in droves.
But they were yet to witness the best part of this match.
Rudi struck in the third over of the match, Danvers catching the stupid shot bug and attempting a hook shot, and instead finding Atkinson waiting at third man. Folkes was charging in and got 2 wickets in two balls -a habit it seems- and the Lions had roared back! The fans got louder and louder, as they realised they could win this. Lefu had nicked to slip and Trotman miscuing a drive straight into mid-ons hands, 5/3 after 4 overs, this match was getting interesting.
White and Sait set about restoring the innings in a painfully slow but badly needed partnership worth 31 runs. Just as the crowds went quite, they witnessed a brilliant fielding effort form the no-so-athletic Whing to remove White. And then panic set in the untouchables camp. They lost their cool, playing some terrible shots in the face of some disciplined and brilliant bowling and fielding from the TT Lions. As the score slipped from 35/4 to 39/7, the Lions fans got louder, and the untouchables fans started to leave. The Lions were pulling off the impossible. Taggart top-edged a pull to Crouch at square leg, Corniel shuffled accross his stumps and was trapped plumb in front, and Nhleko edged to slip as the Lions were at their best. Sait put up some resistance, including hitting Tuckett for 6, and Leacock played one of the most mind-numbingly dull innings I have ever witnessed, but it wasn't enough as the untouchables were wrapped up for 65 in a stunning victory for the Lions.

Terrific bowling ratngs, but batting is a major, major concern here. Definately need a couple of good batsmen. Dennis deserved his MOTM for his very fluent and crucial 28.

Saturday's Suprising Fact!

Today's fact has to do with TT Lions fast bowler Carlton Drayton. Did you know, Drayt once read the entire Bible in three days. Yup. And even more astounding, he can recite any part of it by heart. Amazing...

Join us next week for another spicy Suprising Fact!

Unexpected batting performance on a cracked pitch... i expected better from crouch and rudi...
