this should be close, but zorax team looks stong and are on form

But in today's match, its a very very tough luck for Zorax! No ressistance from bowlers there Zorax.. This suprises me.. becos the same bowlers won for u other day but today, its other way!

EDIT(10:50 AM) : The match is takin twist and suddenly collapse from Falcons.... Falcons RRate is 6.6 and 6 wickets in hand with 7 Overs remaing! Nice fight back from TTL :)

EDIT 2 : Fantastic Zorax and Congrads for the magic.. As i predicted, it was more more tense in the end than Ind-Pak match! Superb magical display there Zorax... Bowlers especially Rudi has done it for u.. keep it up! :hpraise

The Coach's thoughts on Justin here:
Bah, 'ee isn't very good. Used to bowl to the batsmen 'ere, was okay I guess. Glad 'ees out of here...

scorecardqr5.jpg

A brilliant 79 from legendary allrounder Ryan Crouch and some brilliant death bowling from Rudi and Folkes saw the Lions sneak home by 10 runs in a brilliant match which swung one way and the other.
Bill Tuckett won the toss and elected to win on a difficult pitch, his reasoning that it would support some spin in the latter parts of the match. Spearitt got the innings off to a flier, pulling the fourth ball of the innings right out of the ground! But Mahmood struck back and dismissed him with the last ball of the over, Spearitt nicking an outsinger to the keeper. The pressure was right on the Lions.
Giddings and Rudi recovered in a brisk partership, keeping the rate above 5 and over and rotating the strike well, with Giddings piercing the infield a couple of times. But Mahmood struck bat with a wicket maiden, a ball that kept very low getting rid of Lennox Rudi. A big breakthrough for The Falcons, the Lions were on the backfoot.
Giddings and Gallagher batted very well, seeing off Mahmood and scoring Ashraf and Michael Tuckett. Giddings was looking good for a fifty, but fished at a wide one and edged it to slip, leaving the score at a delicate 74/3 after 16.2 overs. The Lions were off to a good start, all they needed was a batsman to bat through.
But Crouch had other ideas, and launched into the bowling attack, hitting them all over the ground in a fantastic 79 and making Mahmood's support cast look rather mediocre. Things were fine at 98/3 after 21 overs, but paceman Tuckett struk with Gally lobbing a slower ball to Shorey at mid-off. With the out-of form Abdeen on strike and Crouch looking to go hell-bent on the bowling, The Falcons would have sniffed a chance of getting a few wickets and shutting the Lions out.
But all their hopes were dashed with a wonderful 112 partnership between the two. The runs were flowing and the bowling struggled to keep things tight. At 215/4 entering the last ten, a 270+ score was on the cards, but the Lions collapsed with pacers Killagon and Mahmood wiping out the last 6 wickets for just 20 runs in 7.5 overs. 235 all out, a dissapointing score considering the position they were in, but a decent score considering the pitch. But The Falcons had the upperhand, and would have had plenty of confidence going into the break.
The openers Shahbaz and Nisar walked out, and got off to a confident start with 43 runs in the first 10 overs as Rudi and Folkes failed to penetrate. They continued to build, and soon an imposing partnerhip built. Tuckett used all his options, but to no avail. Eli even finished off his ten overs but went wicketless, although he dried up the runs. At 148 for no loss after 34 overs, the Falcons were threatining to seal a 10 wicket win. The RRR was climbing though, and it was the very next over that the pressure got to Shahbaz, who prodded at one from Crouch and was smartly caught by Abdeen. The Legend had done it again, and the Lions had a small chance.
And they grabbed this chance by the throat and didn't let go. Shorey went too agressive too early, and smashed Tuckett to Crouch at mid-off who held and absolute blinder. At the fall of this wicket, the RRR had climbed to 6.25. Tuckett was bowling magnificently, and soon Nisar lost his head, holing out to Crouch at the deep. You couldn't keep the big man out of the game, and after his inspired innings, he wasn't going to lose this match. 70 runs were now required in the last 10 overs for the Falcons, two new batsmen on crease, and 7 wickets in hand. Game on. Folkes returned to the attack, and immediately Lister inside-edged one onto legstump attemting to go over the top. Panic had set in for The Falcons, while the Lions had smelt blood and were going in for the kill. Micheal Tuckett and Ansari hammered Crouch for 12 off his final over, and the match had swung back to The Falcons. 34 to win in 6 overs, 6 wickets in hand. The team that kept their cool at this point would win.
And Folkes did just that. A beauty of a yorker saw off Ansari, and 5 more to Killagon meant that only 1 run was taken off a rather asphyxiating over. Rudi back into the attack, all the pressure in the world on these two allrounders. And it was too much for Killagon to handle, as Rudi's first ball was slapped straight down Tuckett's throat. The crowd had gone silent while the few Lions fans erupted. The Lions had victory in sight, the Falcons were on the ropes. The tail had been exposed, 33 runs still needed to win in 29 balls. Tuckett fought on though, and after some meaty blows the equation had been reduced to 19 runs in 19 balls. Folkes needed to deliver, and a fulltoss was smashed high up in the air...high high up...swirling on it's way down...and it's that man again! Crouch with yet another unbelievable catch, and the Falcons were in serious trouble, with their last hope in the pavillion. Rudi struck twice, Folkes with another tight over, and The Falcons needed 11 off the final over to win, Mahmood and you batsman Alauddin batting. But it wasn't meant to be, as Rudi got his revenge by yorking out Mahmood first ball of the over to seal a magical 10 run win for the Lions. A truley brilliant game, this will go down as one of the finest in the TT Lions history.

Ratings:

Good ratings for the full-strength side. Batting, as usual, needs work, but thankfully for the Lions they put in a decent perofrmance this game. Crouch quite an obvious MOTM.

Attendance:

Very low. Seems not many people could have been bothered getting up at 5 GMT. 9,000 pounds for me.

Join us on Friday when the Lions host dream team the legen!

Mondays trip to the Nets.

Monday is the day on which the Training Updates occur on BT. It's when you get the see the fruit of all the net sessions you have invested in your players along with their hard work. If you are lucky, they may improve -or as it is know in Battrick jargon, 'pop'- in a skill.

Here are this week's trainees:
Mohaideen Abdeen (1 wicketkeeping net, 1 fitness net, 1 fielding net, 1 batting net): Concentartion pop, (BTR) increase.
Xavier Eli (2 bowling nets, 1 fitness net): No pops, BTR increase.
Wavell Folkes (2 bowling nets, 1 fitness net): No pops, BTR increase

The concentration pop in Abdeen has obviouly helped his batting. Still waiting for the batting pop...

Tuesday's Top Player Interview
With Chris Gamble

CG: Hello and welcome to Tuesday's Top Player Interview, the show where you learn more about your favourite players! Today's top player is paceman Wavell Folkes, who's bowling has been instrumental to the Lions' success of late. So, Wave, how's the life in the fast lane?
WF:Haha. Umm, not bad, not bad. Rather enjoying myself:)
CG: Boy, you're a strapping lad. How tall are you?
WF: 6 foot 5 inch:)
CG: Woah, mighty tall there. Anyways, how did you get into fast bowling?
WF: Well, it was a bit of a fluke really. I used to love basketball, but came down here with a few of my mates and bowled a bit. The coaches thought I was good, I enjoyed it, and followed cricket and worked hard from there on.
CG: So what tips would you have for any aspiring pace bowlers?
WF: Just stick to the basics and have a simple action. FOcus on accuracy and pace will come over time. After you get your accuracy, work on swing or seam movement and develop a good slower ball. That's pretty much it.
CG: So, how is life at the TT Lions?
WF: Good, good. Lots of basketball fans here too, Whing and Drayt follow the game, and we usually have a lot of fun in meetings and practice. They are all smart and experienced guys, have helped me a lot with my bowling, so it's all good.
CG:Great :) And before we leave, who is your favourite basketballer?
WF: Kobie Bryant, definately.
CG: Thanks Wave, may your sucess continue.
Well, there you have it, Wavell Folkes, a tall, basketball loving, down to earth guy, and he is our this week's
Tuesday's Top Player! :)

Nice interview there Zorax! :) But waiting for Crouch in player of the week or in interview!
