Yes he is, a brilliant little trainee. Has the exact same stats that Wavell Folkes had when I promoted him last season, so expect him to be a great bowler by the end of the season.

West Indies Cup Match
TT Lions vs. Pitons CC
Pitons CG

What a way to kick of the season. Doesn't it get any better than a 327 run victory? I don't think so. The match was an absolute slaughter, Whing and Spearitt with a brilliantly destructive 298 run partnership, and then Rudi later on with a brilliant blaze.
But undoubtebly to star was English batsman Douglas Whing. He played a magnificent innings, his fifty came off 25 balls after only 5.5 overs, and by then the damage was done. After leaking 89 runs in the first ten overs, the Pitons just lost it, and it was absolute carnage from there. In the process, Whing got the highest ever score by a TT Lions batsman and the first ever score in excess of 200, beating the previous highest of Ryan Crouch's 178 not out. As one fan put it, it was like Ricky Ponting vs. Bangladesh U-11.
In reply, the TT Lion's fabulous bowling sealed the deal. Better teams have succumed to Tuckett and co. before, so not much was expected from the Pitons CC. Alexander and Joseph were the only one to pass double figures.
A giant mis-match overall. Don't expect any easier wins for the TT Lions this whole season.

Ratings:

The Pitons were poor in everything. Fabulous ratings for the first game of the season on a TIE, things are looking good.

Attendance:

Majority of the fans were die-hard Lion fans who made the trip all the way to Pitons CG, but still very low since the Pitons CC aren't a very popular team.

Join us again Friday when the TT Lion's host the Armadillo's in their first league clash!

Alrighty, it's Monday! Yawn, I'm tired...

Mondays trip to the Nets.

Monday is the day on which the Training Updates occur on BT. It's when you get the see the fruit of all the net sessions you have invested in your players along with their hard work. If you are lucky, they may improve -or as it is know in Battrick jargon, 'pop'- in a skill.

Here are this week's trainees:
Mohaideen Abdeen (1 wicketkeeping net, 1 fitness net, 1 fielding net, 1 batting net): No pops, (BTR) increase.
Xavier Eli (2 bowling nets, 1 fitness net): Bowling pop (YAY! :)), BTR increase.
Wavell Folkes (2 bowling nets, 1 fitness net): No pops, BTR increase

Was great to see Eli pop already, just in his first week! Excellent, good news :)

Gah. I lost 750K on this, when I can't even train him.
Long story how, but it's my thread...so...listen up:
Ok, Friday night. I find thid guy for sale, he seems like a very good trainee, and his bidding ended just before Monday's training updates. Perfect. I wasn't confident that I'd get a good YP, so I placed a nice large bid of 750K on him, and hoped no one would up it.
No one upped it by Saturday. Sunday. I then promote Xavier Eli. Great bowler, local, destructive, LH Spin, I gotta train him.
But no one has upped the bid on Eyre here. And no one did, bidding over, 750K gone on a trainee I can't train and can't sell for 41 days, by when his value would drop.
Gah. Bad management by me, I'm pretty sure the fans aren't happy. :( And I'm not that happy either, only about 300K left in the bank!

Great match by TT lions:clap

Also, i got all the quiz answers correct :happy :)

Expected more from the Great Zorax of BT :) Should have thought ahead as surely you knew you were promoting your young star.

I never knew that Eli would be so good...bah...
Ah well, even the best of us make mistakes. Should have bid 550-600K instead, so someone else could outbid. I could have always bid a full 750K AFTER I knew how my YP was...

Anyways, updates will be a tad late today.

Tuesday's Top Player Interview
With Chris Gamble

CG: Welcome to another edition of Tuesday's Top Player interview, with me, your host, Chris Gamble. Today, we have Douglas Whing, the man who entered the record books with a massive 223* this Sunday! So, Dougie, how's life?
DW:Ah, it's good, it's good. Nice to beat Ryan in something, so, yea, it's good :).
CG: Speaking of which, how is he reactiving having lost his record?
DW: Well, he's trying to be all diplomatic, but I know he's fuming inside :D
CG: Haha. :) Ok, guide us through that innings. You walk out to the pavillion, thin crowd, weak opposition, were you looking to blaze away from the start or build an innings?
DW: Well, I didn't think about going right after the bowling early on. But the ball was coming nicely off the bat early on, I though I could get a big one here. The bowlers were banging it in when they should have been pitching it up, so I wasn't too troubled. But then this bloke, Ayres I think his name was, started spouting his lid off for no good reason. GOt me mad, so I went right after him, it came off, I got two sixes off the over :). And then, before I knew it, my fifty came in the sixth over! And I thought I can't stop now, and just kept going. And yea, the pressure got to them, they bowled more rubbish, lost their cool, and Leero, Lenno and I just capitalised on that. The last 40 odd runs were a blur, it didn't hit me that I had got 200 and broke a record till I reached the pavillion!
CG: Excellent stuff there mate, it was a truely amazing knock. Guess you'll be catching the highlights ay? ;)
DW: Haha, well, I've already seen them! Must say, I played brilliantly. Haha ;)
CG:Haha, yes! :) Anyways, how's it been playing for the Lions? You've been here for what, 1 and a half seasons now?
DW: Yea, been here quite a while. And yea, it's pretty good. The guys are great, fans are excellent, and I hope to be here for a long time :)
CG: And I'm sure the fans hope that too :) Now, before we go, just one final question. A couple of fans have brought up a good point that you have loads of grips on your bat! How many grips do you have exactly?
DW: Haha, well, yea, I have exaclty 4 grips. One thick one, one medium one, and two thin ones. My very first century in grade cricket came with a mate's bat which had that many grips, and to date I refuse to bat with a bat which has any more or any less. I've just kinda gotten use to it, it's a habit really. :)
CG: Well, thank you Dougie. Nice speaking to you.
There you go folks, Douglas Whing, and man who just keeps his eye on the gold and mixes good work ethics with simple superstitions. And he is our this week's Tuesday's Top Player! Join us again next week!
:)

Hmm, just read the last 3 pages, quality stuff. Especially loved the history article, "My First Day".

Thanks for giving me some credit in our match...nice coverage. I mean, I'm not that bad, The Spin only beat me, what was it? Twice? 3 times?

Yes, you did bowl fairly well. Batting needs just a 'little' bit of work...:p
I now am going to do Wednesday's update, because I won't be online tommorrow :(

Wednesday's Words of Wisdom
From Shaka Nelson

Hello, welcome to Wednesday's Words of Wisdom, where we give you, the readers, a piece of advice on Battrick every week, delivered by the TT Lion's experienced groudsman, Shaka Nelson. Today's piece of Advice is:

"Talent isn't everything. I mean, it's all fine and dandy if your batsman can see the ball like a football or has enough power to send the ball to the next state, but if they don't have the ability to concentrate for periods of time, they are more likely to throw away their wicket quicker than make full use of their talent. Similarly, a bowler may be able to bowl unplayable deliveries, but if he can't land 2 balls in the same spot, he is just going to be cannon fodder for the batsmen."

Thank you, and join us again next week in another Wednesday's Words of Wisdom.
