ABC talk back radio views on greatest player

on ABC they had some callers in and one of them made the point about the best player in the world saying it wasn't brian lara as he is too inconsistent and wasnt tendulkar because he has a glass elbow, And the best batsman in the world was Ricky Ponting! i have to agree with him bigtime, But then im just bias, Do you think this guy was smoking crack? or may have a point?

Depends really. If you take the past 10-15 years then Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara win easily, but I think currently Ricky Ponting is better.

Just my opinion.

Well Inzi I Think is the worlds best batsmen right now he is in terrific form....but brian lara is not far behind .....brian would be scoring more runs if he had a better team

I disagree Ponting is very unstable at the start of an innings.

Looking for consistency go for Inzy, he IS consistent.

I agreee with SureShot, a good full ball to Ponting can get him out quite easily early on. Inzi maybe, but I still would like him to run more singles!

Sachin Tendulkar Definately, hes only had tennis elbow for a few years. Its not as bad as saying hes not the best player in the world and unlike Lara hes a good part-time spinner!

If Kallis stays consistent with bat and gives up ball, he can become one of the best players.

Sachin is not in the best of his form, but his average/runs are comparble to other leading players. He is on his way to re-discover himself. Currently though, Inzi is the best. Ricky is unstable, more like scoring a hundred and then a duck.
Inzimam is in terrific form, right from the season beginning.

Since its from ABC, you can understand the total bias towards Ricky Ponting.

Kallis has been godly for at least a couple of years now, averages like 70 or something.

Ponting is an incredible cricketer, what stands him apart from so many others is that he can craft an innings of defiance and resilience without throwing away his attacking game. He is very difficult to remove once he gets his eye in and is arguably the best on-side player in world cricket.

One great aspect which makes Lara one of the best is that he plays for a team that loses alot and the team rely on him heavily where as Ponting and Tendulkar both can bat their natural game and have fantastic batsman's around them. I would still say Lara is better than Ponting but that is my own opinion.
