Matches Posted Amarnath-Kardar Trophy - Two Giants Clash Again - High-scoring last match

Shame! Even if there was no financial exchange between the parties, it is clear that match fixing did take place when the top Afghanistan players were dropped from the playing XI.

Maheer raised the issue and has brought this to light. On behalf of Team India, I would like to thank Maheer for raising up & PCB for looking into this matter. Now I request ICC Anti Corruption Team to closely monitor Asad's activities.

Congratulations to @RUDI for being appointed as Captain of Pakistan. :)

So how many captain changes we might witness before series ends for Pakistan... I bet 2 more...
There should be a sportsbook event of how many times Pakistan will change their captain :lol

Nobody is giving the captain the much-deserved credit. :rolleyes

The captain brought spinners despite it being the last stages of the match. Truly a visionary and fearless captain!

BREAKING NEWS: Former Pakistan Captain, Asad Raza Calls an Emergency Press Conference at 8 pm Tonight.

Former Pakistan Captain, Asad Raza, who has been quiet since the announcement of his sacking is all set to break his silence tonight. In a weird unfolding of circumstances, instead of his manager announcing the press conference, he has himself done the honors. Does it mean that he has gotten a new manager? Or does he no longer trust him?

Stay tuned to Down News to find out this and much more tonight at 8 pm!

Asad Raza's Emergency Press Conference

yk.jpg

Asad Raza: I feel dejected, gutted, and truly sorry to the fans for whatever happened. I am at a loss for words! I take complete responsibility that being the captain of a proud Cricketing nation, I should have done better. And knowing I won't be leading the side, which I built with utmost dedication and hard work, in the next game truly breaks my heart to pieces.

Let me make this crystal clear, I never was and will never be involved in fixing or corruption of any sort. It was just that I failed to report the approach, which I accept responsibility for. The PCB has given me a harsh punishment, but I accept it gracefully, and will not contest it as long as a fair re-investigation is launched. If not, let me again make this clear that I am not afraid of court proceedings, where my demands will get tough for the PCB to meet.

As I said, I believe the investigation has been a farce. It is beyond me how that cunning individual managed to escape the ACU, just because he announced "retirement" hours before the entire controversy. One apology and fine makes him fit enough to resume playing? Additionally, why did I receive the offer from Abdullah Abdullah as soon as a certain individual was benched? Why were the Afghan players benched as soon as a certain individual came into the XI? Why did all of this come up as soon as I won two series for my country and scored magnificent runs? Were they sleeping earlier? Why was it all over the media while I took a short nap? So many questions, which the ACU didn't bother to look into! These are clear signals for others to see, hinting at who was behind this, but alas, the investigation committee is blindfolded by those who managed to send the previous coaching staff home.

They had to make a scapegoat and they have succeeded in that twice now. I am pretty sure that this is a ploy from those jealous of my success, and I hope to reach the root cause of this.

I will now take a few questions.

Question 1: Asad, you just said 'they had to make a scapegoat and they have succeeded in that twice'. Who are you hinting towards? And which is their other success apart from your sacking?

Asad:
Well, our head coach was sacked earlier too, just because some certain individuals were unhappy with the professionalism he brought in and how he refused to bow down to the mafia. Also, everyone in the management has been changed so far except the vice-captain. 4 individuals are incompetent, but the 5th who was always a part of the same setup descended from heaven?

Question 2: You were always adamant about a zero-tolerance policy regarding corrupt individuals in Cricket. You were against bringing Amir in when he took his retirement back. Now, even your teammates are criticizing your activities. Has karma come back to haunt you?

Asad:
Excuse me, what? The report clearly mentions 'Asad having been cleared of match-fixing or spot-fixing' then may I please ask how anyone can accuse me of fixing? You and some of my friends on the Indian side might have to read with open eyes.

Journalist: I have a counter-question; if you were cleared of match-fixing, then why were you sacked in the first place? Was the evidence that you provided not good enough?

Asad:
I suppose you are better off asking this from those in charge of this decision. I provided bank guarantees and even gave my phone to the PCB ACU Chief Officer. When they could find nothing, their sole evidence was 'intent to corrupt'. If I may ask, can the ACU read my mind? I just failed to report the approach, that is it. I believe that I have been trapped, through some sort of a secret ploy. And it breaks my heart to see nobody console me, except my dedicated fans.

Even though the punishment has been harsh, I am not requesting any leniency, rather a fairer investigation and the same process to be used for everyone.

Question 3: Was there a lack of communication between you and the PCB CEO?

Asad: With all due respect, I must say I wasn't even informed of the decision the PCB hierarchy had taken. I would have easily stepped down if asked to, but they had to make a mockery of Pakistan Cricket. I believe that answers your question.

Question 4: We have heard that you sacked your manager? Could you bother to confirm or deny it and perhaps share the reason?

Asad:
Your sources are right, I am afraid. Well, the reason is confidential but all I can say is that I found evidence of my manager being linked to the corrupt offers presented to me. So I had to cancel my contract with him. I shall reveal more details at the right time to the right people...

But one thing is certain, if that evidence is found to be true, there is another episode yet to unfold.

Last question guys!

Last Question: Now that this episode is done & dusted, are you looking forward to competing with India in the 2nd ODI? The series looks evenly poised, and I am sure your fans are looking forward to seeing you on the field.

Asad:
The episode might be done & dusted from their perspective, but I will not back down until a fair investigation is launched. And as I said earlier, if needed, I am not afraid of court proceedings. If the situation reaches courts, my demands will get tough for the PCB and the current management to meet. I am a firm believer that the evidence will also lead to my victory!

To answer your question, frankly, the ODI series is not at the top of the priority list right now. I will have a chat with the management and the newly-appointed skipper to see if it is worth it for me to return to that dressing room after the way I was ousted. The situation isn't ideal for me to come back as a player. Plus, I have a few offers on the table which I should be able to reply to soon. I hope to come to a decision before the next game. Nevertheless, I can assure my fans that whatever decision I will take, it will be for the benefit of the country, and my personal mental peace.

Lastly, I would like to wish the best of luck to @RUDI. I am sure he will do a fine job as the skipper. A piece of friendly advice for him; he must be conscious of the dressing room's hunger for sackings. Hopefully, it should have come to an end, but I would love to see some get a taste of their own medicine...

Thank you!

Enraged Pakistani fans riot in upon the sacking of Asad Raza

Alexandriano Hauxmann, CricStalker Correspondent

Things have started to heat up even more as a huge group fans have started rioting all over the country upon hearing the news of their beloved captain, Asad Raza, getting sacked from captancy for the match fixing allegations that were put against him. Asad, as the evidence suggests, was caught match fixing for allegedly striking a deal with the Afganistan team manager to manipulate the team strategy for the series deciding match. Though no form of transaction had happened between Asad with the Afganistan team manager, the evidence found against Asad was crystal clear and he was sacked just so.

The rioting fans, who seem to be enraged and utterly disappointed by another abrupt decision to change the team setup after the saking of Misbah Ul Haque, their another beloved figure, have steadily grown in numbers all over the country. They were seen loudly chanting 'Pro Misbah' and 'Pro Asad' quotes and have demanded the PCB to give Asad his captaincy back.

"Asad has been tricked, he is innocent!!!"

"Asad is a compatriot! a diamond! Our national hero! He is the only one who deserves to be our captain! By no means does PCB have the right to sack him while he is still available! I don't believe anything else!"

"It is all a conspiracy! First Misbah, now Asad!? The whole board is corrupt to the core! They only know to make decisions for their own personal gains, not for the nation! Screw their evidence! Screw their management! Bring Asad back!!!!!!"

"The evidence they provided against Asad is clearly fake! We can all see it! Do they take us as idiots!? We will not stand it! We want Justice for Asad!"

So were the words of some protestors we managed to talk to.

While the situation is heating up, there has been no major incident caused by this protest as of yet.

Meanwhile, a popular and ultra-hyped talk show named "Buckwas Buckbuck" had brought a number of 'experts' to talk about these unprecedented and horrid situation, alongside PCB's decision to sack Asad in general. Rana Rana, one of the experts invited, has bluntly suggested that none but Asad Raza is the culprit, and should be banned from playing cricket alltogether without any pardon.

"This whole protest is utter and absolute bullshit! I don't see any reason behind it. Asad Raza has clearly beem found guilty of betraying the law, and he has been rightfully sacked. No questions asked. In fact, I don't see the reason for a cheat and betrayer like him to be a part of the Pakistani line up. He should be suspended for life and should never be allowed to play cricket, even street cricket, ever again!"

Another expert named Billu Bilal however, opposed Rana by expressing a very thought provoking theory. He claimed that the main culprit is actually the BCCI and the indian cricket team, who have indirectly induced and conspired against Asad and Misbah for them to be sacked.

"Asad was our best captain, Misbah was our best coach. Our team was completely full proof and undefeatable. So how convinient for the Indian cricket team to have both of them sacked. Coincidence? I think not! I am sure the BCCI are the one's who bribed the Afganistan team manager to trick Asad and get him sacked! This is all a huge conspiracy against us! The protest must continue! We must stop this injustice and bring back Asad as our glorious leader to carry our flag!"

The debate got heated up at one point as both Billu and Rana breifly engaged in a cringeworthy fistfight, details of which is not to be elaborated here. But both the BCCI and PCB have yet to express anything regarding this matter.

As time progresses the situation becomes even tenser for Pakistan, both on and off the field. How will the Amarnath-Kardar trophy progess? We can only address the uncertainty.

My message to my fans is that stay calm and composed. We are in this together. Although all your demands are 100% correct, I am looking forward to the re-investigation, otherwise, I will drag them to court. They will have to pay for it, and meet some of my tough demands. Don't worry. I will make sure justice is served.

As far as some nobodies alleging me to have fixed the game, or taken part in any corrupt activities, are concerned, my only reply to them is that I prefer not to reply to fools and buffoons. And for my haters, if I am found to have taken any bribe or requested bribe or anything of that sort, I will retire that exact day. This is my promise. Can the other side make such a promise? @Na Maloom Afraad can you? I doubt...

If anyone directs more false allegations towards me, I will not ignore them as I am doing now. I will openly reply.

@A.P Haux good reporting, mate!

PAKISTAN NEWS LIVE - Live with new Pakistan cricket skipper Shahid Younus!
Reporter: Welcome to all our viewers. We are live tonight with Shahid Younus, newly elected captain of the Pakistan National Cricket team. Firstly Shahid Younus, congratulations on your new position.... I must say your appointment has come under some bizarre and disturbing circumstances. Currupt officials, match fixing scandals, players rioting , Misbah sacked, Raza sacked. Is Pakistan cricket in shambles?
Shahid Younus: Thanks for having me. I'd like to start off by thanking the PCB for the opportunity to captain my country at the highest level. I will hopefully not disappoint the loyal Pakistani fans....
Reporter: Younis, kindly shed some light on the sacking of both Misbah and Raza!
Shahid Younus: Hmmm .... , I personally don't like to get involved with politics or other shinanigans . We only want to play cricket , and do it to the best of our ability. Our team's moral was low, but we owe it to our supporters to deliver. And deliver we will...
Reporter: Asad Raza claim to be innocent of any wrong doing. Your thought's on the matter?
Shahid Younus: Raza only have Raza to blame! If he was more concerned in playing cricket and less worried what's happening behind the scenes, he would never have been in this situation to begin with.
Reporter: Care to elaborate?
Shahid Younus: Let Raza do Raza, and I'll do me. Myself and the dressing room only want to focus on the upcoming ODI series, nothing more, nothing less....
Younis stands up and leaves the studio ...
Reporter: Well that was unexpected. Struck a nerve there, did I?
Ladies and gentlemen that was our brief interview with Shahid Younus...
Will the Pakistan national cricket team be able to recover from all of this? Or will we see more drama? Only time will tell...
Over to the weather ...
