Afghanistan arrive for historic visit

Afghanistan's national cricket team landed amid heavy security at the Jinnah Airport in Karachi today, for their first tour of Pakistan. The visit represents an historic landmark in the cricketing history of the two nations, as the same Afghanistan team that once played in Pakistan's domestic circuit has now risen to be a Test-playing ICC member. The two sides will face each other in 3 ODIs in Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi, before heading to Peshawar, a city with a substantial Pashtoon population, and ideal venue to their first Test match against each other, setting yet another landmark. Afghanistan's captain Asghar Afghan declared himself to be excited to step onto the field. Star bowler Rashid Khan said that his team would seek to bring a fierce competitive spirit in every match, while spreading a message of peace and brotherhood among the two nations off the field. This sentiment was echoed by Pakistan head coach Misbah-ul-Haq, recently relieved of his additional roles as chief selector and batting coach, who also warned his players not to underestimate the Afghanis, while emphasising the need to build mometum for the equally historic tour to India by winning the contest against Afghanistan.

Concerns in the Pakistani camp about Jack Ryder's commitment to international cricket

Pakistan's opening batsman Jack Ryder is thought to be harboring thoughts of leaving international cricket for the English county circuit, according to a source familiar with the situation. Ryder is said to have long been unhappy with the team management, and has been in talks with multiple county clubs to sign a long-term contract. It is further understood that he would initially sign as an overseas player, with a view to qualify as a domestic player in a few years, thanks to his wife being of English nationality. While Pakistan are not short on quality openers, these rumours materialising into reality could throw the Pakistani camp in turmoil ahead of an historic tour to India. A representative for Ryder declined to comment, as did the PCB.

Pakistani skipper Raza said to be angry with Misbah's micromanagement, deputy Nazim lashes out at head coach as well

Pakistan captain Asad Raza is understood to be frustrated and angry at head coach Misbah-ul-Haq's management style. In particular, Raza has expressed consternation with Misbah's habit of seeking to tightly control every aspect of the team's fuctioning, from selection, to fitness routines, to sleeping schedules. He is even thought to have imposed a time limit on the players' usage of electronic devices for entertainment purposes, from smartphones to TVs and laptops. Vice-captain Umair Nazim is understood to have openly flouted such restrictions, and engaged in multiple nightlong gaming sessions with some other teammates on the popular multiplayer game "Among Us", leading to a scolding by Misbah. When contacted by text message and asked whether he wished to comment, Nazim's reply was "LETS GOOOOOOOOO (sic)". The remaining text message exchange was conducted off the record, but would not be fit for publication in any case. The apparent turmoil in the Pakistani camp could potentially prove to be a damaging distraction from the team's huge upcoming visit to India.
Representatives for Asad Raza, Misbah-ul-Haq and the PCB declined to comment.

Pakistan Cricket in Shambles

Asad Raza calls an emergency virtual press conference later this evening to address the rumors.

Sources say that he is probably going to resign, if the head coach doesn't step down. The disagreements with the head coach, Misbah ul Haq are getting out of hand, and the PCB chairman, Misbah ul Haq's emergency meeting with the two last night didn't prove to be fruitful. If the matters keep worsening, Prime Minister Misbah ul Haq might have to intervene, and even dismiss the Sports Minister Misbah ul Haq.

Another rumor has it that Asad Raza has been offered a place in the Indian side, and Indian nationality. The source went on further to say that he has even booked a flight to New Delhi to be a part of the Indian team's camp ahead of the Amarnath-Kardar Trophy.

Don't miss the press conference! We are surely in for a massive overhaul in Pakistan Cricket circles.
