Andy Moles quits as New Zealand coach

I don't like this at all. If the players aren't happy with Moles, they shouldn't be telling anyone apart from the board if it gets bad. I didn't really agree with Moles being appointed and thought Wright should of been given the gig, but he hasn't done that bad of a job, we made the final of the Champions Trophy, as well as pushing an Australia side and basically winning the series.

I think he has got it wrong with McCullum, but I can see where he is coming from. McCullum could set up alot of innings if he could actually occupy the crease and play some decent innings. But now, in my mind, he has ruined McCullum as an opener, he needs to be sent back down the order where he has a clear job, to either consolidate or go nuts.

And Daniel Vettori would be the best spin bowler ever if he could turn the ball both ways :p What Andy Moles tried to do with McCullum was worth a try, but as soon as it become apparent it wasn't working they should of scrapped it.

Pretty spot on there. He deadset doesn't know how to bat unless we're chasing 350+, or 150-.

That all comes down to McCullum's ability to handle pressure, well his lack of doing so anyway.

Listening to Vettori's interview today he didn't really do much to dispel the rumors did he, he sort of tired to skim over most of what was being asked of him.

Some great replacements would be-
1. Robin Singh
2. Lalchand Rajput
3. Sandeep Patil

I think Robin Singh, Sandeep Patil or Lalchand Rajput can do a great job for strengthening the revival of NZ cricket. Robin Singh is an amazing coach. Lalchand Rajput lead India to victory in some glorious, high-pressure series. And Sandeep Patil, the man took Kenya to the Semi Finals in the World Cup 2003 !

Pass thanks. Why would we want Robin Singh, wasn't he just sacked as India's fielding coach?

But now, in my mind, he has ruined McCullum ....

Its absolutely unfair to blame the coach for the way an individual performs. Brendon McCullum is playing more like Shahid Afridi did for the past 8 yrs until he finally realized the importance to play the ball according to its merit and BUILDING an inning. McCullum, I'm sorry to say, doesn't do that at all. He wants to smash every ball to the 4 and is more like a 3 ball wonder, tbh. He needs some time off.

Get Lou Vincent back in the team and drop Brendon. For God's sake, he was one of the best keeper-batsmen in NZ and he's just not getting picked, despite disbanding from the ICL.

It was stupid to sack him. Just like there is no logic in playing an out-of-form McCullum, there was no logic in dropping a coach. Logic is a factor which lacks there and here. And everywhere actually. You just can't blame the coach for a bad series. He will teach you what to do and his role stops there. He is not gonna come on the ground and bat, ball, field, keep for you.

You guys must select Sandeep Patil or Lalchand Rajput. These guys are magicians

Hmmmm, where do I start here. Firstly Vincent was a part time keeper, I don't actually think he ever kept for New Zealand during his career, he didn't keep for Auckland either. Secondly, Vincent isn't even playing cricket anymore (well not top level cricket), he's currently battling a mental illness.

As for McCullum, before Moles become coach and tried to change the way he play's an innings he was doing just fine, the previous season he was averaging 40 odd with a strike-rate of around 110. McCullum play's his best cricket when he's looking to attack, his defense is no where good enough for him to play as New Zealand's anchor, this is what where getting at, why make someone take on a role when they're not technically good enough to do it.

Not at all. He did nothing whatsoever for the betterment of the team. Our fielding standards are still the same as they were two years back, in spite of including a huge number of young cricketers. So, what's his achievement can you tell me?
And it's not just about one bad series, it's about two long years of failure. He was our fielding coach for two and a half years, still, he couldn't succeed at all in his job. Why should we unnecessarily continue with him then? The BCCI did the right thing by sacking him, I am totally with them.

Ok. Where have the other keeper-batsmen from 04-05 & 05-06 disappeared? There were 2 players in the NZ XI who were keepers. One was Vincent. The other I don't remember. He used to keep and was in the middle order. Very aggressive batter. Help me with the name, can you?

Brendon McCullum's been our keeper for six season's now, the only guys that have played in that time are Gareth Hopkins and Peter McGlashan.

You might be thinking of Adam Parore maybe?

Buddy, the man has raised the standard of our teams fielding. Compare it to Lalchand Rajput or Greg Chappell's time and you'll see the difference. And you just can't blame the coach if the players don't implement whats taught to them. He will teach you what to do and his role stops there. He is not gonna come on the ground and bat, ball, field, keep for you. You've gotta do it by yourself.

The fact that many players in the team are unhappy (off the record) highlights the haste in decision making by the BCCI. They could and should have done better. It was humiliating, what they did to Prasad & Robin. They didn't even have the decency to thank them for their services. What a shame !

Hmm. Are you sure there wasn't anyone else coz I remember there was someone apart from Vincent and before McCullum. That chap was a very aggressive player. Maybe he played more as a batsman

Since 2002 New Zealand have used:

Robbie Hart
Brendon McCullum
Chris Nevin
Gareth Hopkins
Peter McGlashan
