Ashes-2023 England VS Australia 16 June-31 July

Yeah it felt weird going on social media and seeing a lot of people loving the action yesterday. It was decent but if we’re going to have Bazball action, I’d rather have it at a higher run-rate which is infinitely more entertaining.

Haven’t watched the game but I wonder if this is where England will miss Woody or a fit Stokes. They needed someone to break the partnership and their bowling attack is a bit of too much sameness if two batters get their eye in.

I’m also surprised that neither Mo nor Root managed to get a wicket with two lefties at the crease.

Well either had golden opportunities to get out Green and Carey respectively. Sadly someone behind the stumps didn't do their job properly. Jimmy looks to be getting little joy out of this pitch so don't understand leaving out Wood for him. He is the only fit genuine pace option we have.

Why don't we try something funky like Bairstow opening with Duckett. That way you can get Foakes into the team too. We need to get a specialist Wicketkeeper into the side or Ashes will get away.

I do agree that if you’re going to make bold declarations to try and get a wicket or two in just four overs at the end of the day or push for wickets in general with creative fields and plans while giving the opposition more time to bat for getting scores, having a keeper who takes every regulation chance and is also capable of the spectacular from time to time is indispensable.

I’d rather have Stokes open if he is just going to gift his wicket away eventually and not bowl much but that would mean dropping the first English opener who doesn’t seem to hesitate and has got off to a good start in a while because I don’t think Crawley’s ever getting dropped especially after a fifty.

Could Bairstow & Crawley work as a opening partnership or should we keep faith with Duckett. I would be absolutely astounded if Stokes moved up to open, however you make valid point about him not valuing his wicket enough.

geoblocked unfortunately, which match is it?
Not sure exactly.

hampshire v Sussex T20 Friday night I think , It’s on Sussex Twitter page I do know , if you can see that

it’s a full length superman style catch, off a shot that was screaming over the boundary for 6 until he dove and took it

The curse of the Karachi Pool has reached the Ashes

I don’t think you should be wasting Bairstow as a makeshift opener when he’s capable of scoring quick fifties and centuries and as he showed last summer is also capable of grinding it out should the need arise.

Them pies from Mo looked like me in the nets last week :facepalm2::laughter:
England as always suffering the consequences of spurning chances. Funny how whenever it's the other way around we never punish the opposition for it. I am absolutely fuming at the utter carelessness which has put us well behind in the game now. The worst part is we can't change anything for next test as squad already named.

I just knew we wouldn't knock them over this morning, didn't believe a single word about Aussies having a long tail. Sadly haven't got the attack to blow away 7,8,9,10

I reckon we'd have bowled them out for 300 if Wood was playing.
Absolutely we have blown this momentum by Bairstow's diabolical keeping and Broad's sloppy Front Foot too

Bonkers umbrella field rattles Khawaja and Robinson rattles his wickets.

Good innings from Ussie.

Yeah Aussies should never criticise Broad ever again because he has put you in driving seat
