Ashes Cricket 2013 General Discussion

Stop me if I'm wrong, but surely that stuff would should have been locked down months ago...
I took an early inference that the Adelaide Oval would have been part of the DLC for the return Ashes, judging by their hesitancy at the time to confirm it.

The number also went from 28 to 'over 30' at some point.

but surely they're not building whole new elements out of thin air?
Perhaps some other half finished elements that were dropped for time constraints were added back in.

all we've got for weeks is a copy and paste "we are polishing and bug-fixing"

i couldn't give a toss about the "all that and more" - we can all make our own judgment on that when this (and DBC) makes the release announcement and shows the full feature list.

all i want to know is, will this release in Nov? and specifically in time for the first ashes test?

given the previous track record, and the no-value-added posts we've had in the last few weeks, I am convinced that the answer is no.

You are Thy wise one :yes

The annoying bit is (unless your a polishing fanatic) that we just have to wait and see without any excitement about it or quite frankly nothing to keep us interested.

Well Ross kinda brought this on by being so upfront about the impact AC13 is having on their release plans - what's restoring your reputation with customers when you can slightly damage your competitor?

I'm not too proud that I can admit I had to google entomologist to get the joke.

"please make my game and my babies EA"

I do respect your opinions a lot as you make many valid points but I have to say once again however badly I worded it which I now know, I was just using "EA" to coin a phrase so to speak. I know EA don't have a cricket game and I know full well the developers we have now good or bad obviously care more for the genre and are in more than safe hands. As I've mentioned, personally I don't want EA to make a cricket game I was just using it as a figure of speech for a certain argument!

:)

----------

I think the Trickstar guys MAYBE need to realize that many of us are judging their game as a separate entity, not as some comparison to DBC14. Regardless of "that and more" features we don't care, we just want to see a good cricket game come out from both parties!

Of course we'll be directly comparing them! We SHOULD! I'll be judging both games against each other... so we know which one is the better purchase! Otherwise, we're all just wasting our time here. Sure, good majority of us will buy both but the whole idea of PlanetCricket is to talk, discuss and compare cricket games. Otherwise, we may as well go buy rubber bands...

It's a bit like saying "well I can't decide whether to buy a ford or a holden, so I'll test drive both of them... then go buy an Audi"

A fair point there mate.

With EA we also need to remember that the game was made by HB Studios (for all of them? I forget). They were based in Canada no? Hardly a cricketing hub.

Big Ant or Trickstar could have a cricket game published by EA but the sales predictions would likely prevent interest from EA. Remember that Tru Blu, a relatively small publishing company, only came on board late in the piece with Bradman 14, which was originally due to be self-published.

Even just basic things like a list of the stadiums/teams in the game, the game modes we have, etc.

Well, game modes is something essential for any cricket game, if it aims at having a larger shelf life. I'll be looking forward to this sole feature.

To put it in simple terms, the number of non-Ashes customisable/pre programmed tournaments. Even though the Ashes series was the star of the show in the graphically best to date pc game AC 2009, vastly improved than it's predecessor , I still enjoy playing Brian Lara 2007, because of more game modes...

This game'll be even better than AC 09, with all the polishing from July (as Matt said); and hopefully Mike can tell us about all these in his next update.

Remember you still have around 20 people viewing this forum now, with no exciting news in the past one month. So, the forum will spring back to life with some good updates... :yes

I think the popularity of a third party forum really isn't high on the list of priorities. Getting the stickers on the right side of the bat is prolly a fraction higher...

Even higher than that is getting an honest community rep for this game. Chief was not; Mike is trying but he's soiled his shorts on a couple of occasions.

To put it simply for you, it has nothing to do with what I was saying.
I was talking about Apples(at least trying to), you are telling me about Oranges.
oranges?:noway.it was peaches

kind of agree and don't as well.as some one said they'll be seen as two different entities as well.if its'good it might sell(may be less than dbc).like fifa and pes.fifa is fun to play and good at passing kind of game.where as pes sucks at this but is more realistic with regard to ball control and all.you can control your body position and ball.good dribbling but doesn't have the flow in gameplay.
if ashes is fun to play ,smooth it might sell.but with the cam angle and the depth in gameplay dbc looks more likely to be the best game and sell more
p.s:we haven't actually seen much from either game to know exactly.nothing from ashes infact apart from the tagline i just can't do anything but acknowledge that its great

everything and more.much cooler.
