Ashes Cricket General Discussion

OK 1st innings done. Pretty interesting how similar the score is to my last game's 1st innings.

Are you playing default sliders?

Nope, I'm playing on 80 Pace Speed and Pace Revs down at 12 to avoid the stupidly big cutters. You can see how much an off-cutter moves in this dismissal from the match:

Just got an lbw with starc in my 3rd over, I never get lbw's normally.

300 is probably the 'target'

This AI batting?

What's difficulty set up etc mate?

Well Australia made it through the PP with no wickets down. Then lost 3 in one over as soon as it ended. :lol

Think it might have been because I didn't immediately push the field back like I normally do. Currently 84-3 off 16.

Take out the dodgy run out in the South Africa innings and the scores would be almost identical. In fact, if they'd taken the single it would be 61-4.

One thing to note every wicket in this innings has been using a good length off or leg cutter with the seam angles just off centre; 11pm for leg and 1pm for off. Like so:

Does it make any difference adjusting the seam..?.I'm not sure exactly where to put it as I can't see much difference

When you do it on cutters and put it at 11pm (or whatever time you'd say that picture is for a leg cutter), the same on the other side of 12pm for off cutters it gives you a loopy shorter delivery. The same distance away from 6pm, same side of the circle, a fuller zippier delivery. I have no idea if this is intentional but it seems to be kryptonite to the AI batsman.

If I hadn't bowled 10 no balls with South Africa - a product of them having Steyn and Rabada who bowl with an action I find difficult to time and kept knocking me out of sync, I'd have bowled them out - had at least 1 wicket not given off a no ball. Not shown in that image the match-winning 4 from 29 balls from Imad Wasim who, by virtue of not getting out, meant I ran out of Morkel overs. For the last ten overs I had three slips and I think they took about ten overs to get the last 15 runs.

I'd love to say it was exciting but I kind of predicted it. This is what has left me a bit disenchanted with the game over the past few days. I don't know if I'm getting good competitive matches because of anything I'm doing or if the AI does it intentionally.
