Ashes Cricket General Discussion

Just to give some feedback on the beta build at the mo: both batting and bowling are much more satisfying and the edges are back.....England are currently 43 for 3 off 22 overs (me batting) with AI bowling a very challenging line and length, they have a good field that they are sticking to and have not been chopping and changing. As has been said the AI bat very sensibly; block, leave, hit the bad ball....however they are scoring way too slow but playing sumptuous cricket. But as I said in the beta forum this is the best build we have had since before release as far as I am concerned. That is really great.

Any questions about have they fixed this or that or will they do this or that or anything else will be ignored. That’s the nda we are under; nothing written, a gentlemans agreement, no being coy but being respectfull. We are free to speak about our experiences of the builds we are given without alluding to any permanancy of the acheived fixes or any content whatsoever that falls outside of the category; “I played the build and experienced this or that compared with x or y build.”

Please make sure clean bowled's don't get "removed" ... Great to hear there is tangible progress

Can you complete the sentence: "I played the latest build and found the AI in ODI/T20s to be _____ compared to the current release". Thanks! :-) Jokes aside, am curious about AI chasing and bowling changes in shorter formats - whatever you can talk about

Genuinely, you would like the tweaks. We were always on a very similar page.
Shame that the book was: "My Life In The Gutter" by Lotta Titznbum, that very page being stuck together for some reason.....last time I lend out my books.

Would be nice to see the AI bat for more than 35 overs and not lose four or five wickets in the powerplay.

Also with the constant search for edges again, (which we need for human batting), I feel we must not lose LBW's against the AI too, this is what happened in DB 17. It does sound promising so far though.

Its a bit academic as the AI run rate is out of kilter and therefore not measurable as yet: the fact that human batting is more difficult and AI aren't slogging themselves into the ground is positive. It is such a complex number of factors determining everything and for it to remain subtle and dynamic takes a lot of tweaking and tuning and testing. A bit of a diplomats answer but there you have it.........

if only there was some form of mentality attribute to affect the AI scoring rate. [HASHTAG]#2018[/HASHTAG]

Many thanks for the inputs regarding the beta testing. I just hope that following issues are looked into in the upcoming patch.
1. easy six hitting
2. aggresive AI field placements (especially in shorter formats)
3. the problem where career player suddenly jumps to 85+ rated from 50+ rated after getting selected for english county or aus domestic

Great work. Fingers crossed

All those things are very important, but I hope the focus is very widespread. Things such as the old semi-assisted catching game being brought back instead of the current instant catch everything.
The whole view being cut-off down the field for straight drives on any broadcast view.
The convoluted field changing method for custom fields.
Attributes doing nothing in create a player.
Custom stadium duplication.
Online issues.

There are so many different things on top of the AI's tactics that I hope the focus is as widespread as possible.

While I'm here I might as well say that I don't consider any of the improvements in the current build that have been stated as a certainty for final patch release. I'm sure most people realize that.

I appreciate that. As we have noted before, the littlest of changes make changes that have huge knock on effects. BA are trying and we are testing it everyday trying to find a balance. It is no secret that testing is now in full flight again and while things have changed for the better certain things still need adjusting. It all depends on what can be tuned without hampering the whole thing.
