Ashes Cricket General Discussion

I'm not sure if that would be possible. Given that BAS do not have rights of DBC anymore, I wonder if the Academy goes with that too. Would be interesting to know.
Yeah, I wondered that too. Will be interesting to find out.

Wondered may be there a possibility to import the academy teams and players from DBC17 .That's what didn't release academy.

Ross said they don't have rights to dbc17 data and I believe that includes academy.
Then why so much delay in academy release.. People would want to get to career straight away, so they would want teams created by then...

Yeah, but if it's like DBC 17 where you can update your teams while you are in a career mode save then chances are you'll still be playing club cricket while the community create teams/logos etc.

My complete guess is either license holder issues in releasing something ahead of time, or the sensitivity of something with a much higher profile than dbc and official backing having a feature that allows compromising the IP of partners of the license holders.

Or something else altogether...

Yeah this makes more sense..

Not concerned about academy if they can release game with minimal bugs :yes

I was actually expecting a women's cricket only trailer since it has started... But they would know better anyway..

It really surprised me: here we have a cricket game and one of the few sports games catering to a female audience with licensed teams from that competition and then at the start of the comp there is nothing....I would have thought it would be a massive moment to get something out about the game: something on the lines of...good luck to the ladies facing off at Brisbane today...replay the game in Ashes Cricket coming soon blah blah blah....but maybe there was something on tv or at the ground???

And it's not like they have done half baked version for women's cricket.. They should have done it...Showed things just to show the world the support they have shown and women's cricket which has been getting a lot of attention off late would have been really nice touch... Similar to the way you said it...

I would be very interested to see how the Ashes Cricket academy will work, especially for English and Aussie Ashes squads. Since they are licensed they would more than likely be closed down to editing via academy. My guess is that the official 2017 Ashes squad would be locked down and called 'Australia Men Ashes 2017' or some such along with squads for Eng team and their women counterparts. You will need to create a separate Aus and Eng teams in case you want to make any tweaks.

Coming back to the academy, I see it coming soon, especially if BA want to give time to the great people here at PC to make those beautiful teams.

Maybe they don't?? Let's be serious for a moment... the academy will involve breaching the IP of the license holders themselves (i.e. ECB and CA IP around domestic teams, competitions and franchises).

Also the higher profile is more likely to attract attention of partners of the license holders (i.e. other boards) to breaches of their IP.

Same with the manufacturers/sponsors who have licensed their gear...
