Ashes Cricket General Discussion

Recent successful title RLL4 i guess.

RLL4 was an almost universally panned money grab from the beginning.

There was very little information about it before the release, Ross went into hiding and the trailer that did eventually surface showed little about the actual gameplay, and instead focused on facial scans.

Upon release, it turned out the graphics had actually regressed significantly - I suspect it was to ensure a stable frame rate at 4k but there's been no official word as to why. The gameplay mechanisms were a bit different, but I wouldn't say better - and career mode wasn't touched at all.

If that sounds familiar to anyone, the lesson is don't expect a rabbit out of the hat. They're not 'holding it back from the trailer as a surprise'. If you don't see it in there, it won't be in the game.

I fully expect this release to be an expensive reskin of DBC17 - except you know, without any other licensed competitions other than the Ashes.

Why do people get so messed up with a cricket game , it’s got this in the video ,it’s the same faults as another game , his wrist position is not right
DBC 17 was not the leap from 14 I agree , I genuine thought bigant was out of cricket with issues with last game and some Criticisms from the forums of DBC 17.
I thought it might be another 5 years before someone else has ago at cricket .

So we are getting Ashes cricket ✔️
Fully ashes licences ✔️ 3 new commentators ✔️ Stadiums✔️
Motion caption ✔️ (Even if only a few players) best marketing ✔️ (Since Lara days with codemasters )
I think we are pretty lucky bigant still going for it and if this sells loads ( I think it will ) .
Next stop getting India, South Africa etc licences
So try keep pettiness out of forum till say next year
I mean nothing personal or to offend anyone .
Buying ashes cricket 16th Nov✔️

Yeah RLL4 was a terrible regression graphically and I've honestly disliked the direction bigant have gone since lacrosse. DBC17 and RLL4 were both arguably steps back.

Big Ant Studios, Australia’s premier sports video game developer, has today announced Ashes Cricket. Developed in close collaboration with Cricket Australia, it is the most realistic and authentic recreation of the sport ever created. Ashes Cricket will feature real cricketers, battling it out on real grounds, right from the comfort of your lounge room and will be available on PlayStation®4, Xbox One and PC in November this year.

Ashes Cricket, the first cricket game from Big Ant to be fully licensed, utilises their celebrated photogrammetry technology, which enables photo-real likenesses of the complete men’s and women’s Australian and English cricket teams to be rendered in-game. Added to the fully licensed stadiums, recreated in stunning detail, players will feel like they’re right there on the field as they play.

“There is no competition in cricket that has the heritage and prestige of the Ashes competition” Big Ant CEO, Ross Symons, said. “We’ve worked hard to build on our existing experience with cricket to deliver a truly realistic game of cricket to our fans.”

For players that are looking for a break from the heat of the Commonwealth Bank Women’s Ashes and Magellan Men’s Ashes competitions, all the much-loved features from Big Ant’s sports games will also make a return to Ashes Cricket. Players will be able to create their own players, teams, stadiums and logos. They’ll also be able to create their own competitions and types of matches, from a short, furious five over match, right through to extended, multi-nation Test match tours.

Additionally, players will be able to enjoy a comprehensive career mode that allows them to take their own customised junior cricketer all the way to the ultimate dream; captaining their country to Ashes victory.

“Time and time again players tell us the feature they love most about our cricket games is the deep customisation options” Symons said. “We have produced a true Ashes Cricket game, through and through, but we’ve also made sure that our heritage in sports games remains true”.

“Cricket Australia’s new strategy recognises the growing role that gaming can play in reaching younger fans, and by working with the likes of Big Ant to develop products that meet this need we are positioning ourselves as leaders in the cricket gaming space globally,” said Cricket Australia CEO, James Sutherland. “The anticipation for the summer of cricket is building and this game will give our fans another way to be a part of the cricket excitement.”

ECB Commercial Director Sanjay Patel said: “We want cricket to be relevant and accessible to the e-sports generation, helping us develop an even bigger nationwide following for the game at every level.

“Ashes Cricket has been designed to be as life-like and authentic as possible. It’s the ideal way for fans to recreate all the excitement and tension of a real-life Ashes contest in their own living rooms.”

Ashes Cricket will be available on PlayStation®4, Xbox One and PC in November this year. Pre-orders are now open!

Ashes Cricket announced!

Apologies if this has already come up somewhere but...

Will we be able to completely customise the England squad like on DBC 17?

Will it just have the 16 tourists but we can increase to 30 with outsiders like say Liam Plunkett?

Will we be able to remove Cook and Broad etc from the England squad or are we stuck with Foakes and the like forever, are they irremovable from the squad because they're licensed?

And can we still design our own England kit and have it instead of the licensed one?

Basically I just want to be able to chop and change the England squad as per my player preference and game performance. I might want to call up Jack Leach or Sam Curran for example and drop Gary Ballance.

Many thanks

I'd imagine, even if there is a 'locked' squad for Ashes sides we'd be able to create separate sides.

it will be the best cricket game ever made in history can't wait

You could probably create your own England team.

You could probably create your own England team.

I’m guessing so, start from scratch as such and call them England XI or something. Select Footitt and Leach etc but say I want Root in there, can I have him? I guess we can still download from the community and have another Root, not the licenced one.

Maybe outside of the playing 2017-18 Ashes option it’s just like DBC 17 so we can customise to our heart’s content.

One would guess that will all work like rll4 or the actual don Bradman in dbc

Do we know if the academy from this game links to the academy from Don Bradman Cricket 17? For example, I have created my career player in DBC17 and uploaded it to the academy, and I would like to download it to Ashes Cricket, much like I did when I created a player in DBC14 and downloaded it in DBC17.

No it won't.

Reason: Big Ant are self publishing, Tru Blu have nothing to do with it. Also Ashes is a different franchise to Don Bradman.

Did read somewhere there will be an academy on steam before release, we will need to get to work!
