Time for That's Stumps Boys
thatsstumpsboysspqp6.jpg
Allan Donald: Welcome back to New Wanderers here in Johannesburg for the opening match of the 2006 PCC Champions Trophy match, between South Africa and England, and of course if you've missed it the South Africans have bowled out England for 230, with Manager/Player Aus5892 taking 4 wickets, 2 for fellow debutant Gibbsrules, who performed magnificently around the wicket, and there was one to Saltires as well, but there were three crucial wickets going the way of the evergreen Shaun Pollock, the veteran of the cleaned-out side, and he is down on the boundary with the Englishman Mark Nicholas for today's innings break "That's Stumps Boys" Interview.

MN: Thanks very much Allan, yep I'm here with Shaun for a short interview, now Shaun, can you sum up what you thought of your team's performance?
SP: Um, it was great overall I think Mark, the boys are happy with the performance, we managed to get them out for less than 250 which on a nice batting pitch is always great.
MN: And yourself, what did you think of your own performance?
SP: I was pretty pleased with it Mark, 3 wickets is always a good haul in ODI Cricket, and two danger men in Paul Collingwood and Kevin Pietersen, plus James Anderson who caused us some trouble in the end.
MN: Now it's a pretty new team playing here, lots of new faces, a new coach and a new captain, what did you think of them?
SP: Uh it's always an adjustment with a new captain and coach, but I've been impressed so far, aus5892 has been a great manager, and not making himself captain was honourable, and WildWil has been good today, I liked the field settings he did, wasn't afraid to make a change, and same with bowling, only thing that could be better about our bowling was if I opened (laughs).
MN: Were you disappointed not to be opening?
SP: Well I was a little but I understand, it's a new generation, and I'm happy to be in the side at the moment, I think Makhaya Ntini was unlucky to be left out, and Andre Nel too they're both great bowlers but I'm glad to be here plaing for my country, not everyone gets to, and it's always a thrill.
MN: Well what do you think about the boy's chances of winning at this stage?
SP: I think we're a great chance, we've got some great batsmen, Graeme Smith and WildWil will have to put us up to a good start, and hopefully we can avoid losing wickets like England did, I think their aggression just let them down a bit, they were off to a flyer early but we drew them back. I think we have the talent to avoid a collapse, but it will take a good effort, they've got a fair bit of talent there in the bowling lineup, so it'll be tough.
MN: Alright I don't want to keep you waiting, go and have some dinner, and hopefully we'll see you again tonight.
SP: Hopefully not, we should hopefully win by then.
MN: Alright thanks to Shaun Pollock there, we'l be back in about 15 minutes for the start of the second innings, can South Africa beat England tonight in this match and take an early lead, or will the English bounce back? Find out soon on SuperSports across the globe.

Cheers for that aus

South Africa vs England
Live From Johannesburg
Umpires: Simon Taufel and Steve Bucknor (Mark Benson 3rd Umpire)

Welcome back to the second innings of the opening CT match between South Africa and England.

wildwilandsmithontheirwhl6.jpg

Looks like South Africa are ready to come out here with their openers Smith and Wildwil.

South Africa are 2/56 after their first 11 overs after losing the two wickets of Wildwil for 1 and Kallis for 18 runs. Currently the batting is staying strong with Captain Graeme Smith on 30 and Voldemort yet to score as he just came out.

Graeme smith is playing some delightful shots hitting some great drives using some great footwork. Voldemort however is struggling to get off the mark. These two are keeping the runrate going at just over 5 runs an over which willl comfortably give them victory if they can maintain it.

WICKETS
wildwiloutjp1.jpg

The first wicket which fell was Wildwil for 1. Wildwil was trying to go aggressive right from the first bal. He tried to use bouncers into fours and unfortunatly mistimed it. Bowler M477YP4RK was troubling him from the first ball he bowled and with the variation that Outlaw91 was using at the other end he was playing it all wrong. Wildwil trying to hook to third man but unfortuantly getting caught. The fieldsman to catch the ball was the captian Andrew Flintoff and the terrific ball was bowled by M477YP4RK.

After a great start i felt thatt Kallis was feeling to comfortable at the crease. After some great drives through the offside, Kallis was bowled a bit of a fuller ball then he was getting bowled before. He was trying to play it through the legside and unfortunatly missed timed the ball and was bolwed by Outlaw91.

HIGHLIGHTS

Jaques Kallis however was tryign to get things going for South Africa and if it wasnt for his quickfire 18, they would be way behind the runrate.

Also Graeme Smith, playing some superb shots and is hitting some real nice boudnaries. His great knock so far is keeping South Africa together and keeping them to maintain the runrate they need.

SCORECARDS

As you can see its mainly Smith who is scoring runs. At this current time Voldemort is finding a toruble to get off the mark

To the bowling scorecard you can see the only two wickets going to Outlaw91 and M477YP4RK whilst Flintoff is trying to keep it cheap.

Balanced start for both... but SA are favourites though with still Gibbs and Villiers to come especially! Hope Voldy can make huge impact with Smith! Com'on SA!

lol, looks like i haven't missed much during my absence, anyway, keep up the good work, the presentation is excellent!

South Africa Crusing along nicely. (3/105 after 20 overs)
South Africa have kept along the required runrate for the whole innings now and are starting to get the upper hand in this match. They are being kept together by a strong innings by Graeme Smith who is on 49*. They only lost one wicket in the last 9 overs which was Voldemort for 10 runs. From an English Point of view, the only real good bowling is from DJ Ager who has taken 2/18 (4)

WICKETS

As you can see voldemort trying to play through the legside but mistimes and gets bowled by DJ Ager.

Beautiful 50 From Smith

graemesmithcelebrateshito1.jpg

Graeme Smith has gotten to 50 after some great shots. Today he has shown how he can play most shots whether its on the legside or on the offside. The leadership and batting skills he has showed today have been superb and if he continues he will easily make 100.

thnx to Smith, we are on track. pity abt my wicket. how did the game know i try to play that shot quite often?
