OK everyone I am doing the second innings to relieve Brett_Lee who is unable to do it for a while:
Time for That's Stumps Boys
Allan Donald: Welcome back to New Wanderers here in Johannesburg for the opening match of the 2006 PCC Champions Trophy match, between South Africa and England, and of course if you've missed it the South Africans have bowled out England for 230, with Manager/Player Aus5892 taking 4 wickets, 2 for fellow debutant Gibbsrules, who performed magnificently around the wicket, and there was one to Saltires as well, but there were three crucial wickets going the way of the evergreen Shaun Pollock, the veteran of the cleaned-out side, and he is down on the boundary with the Englishman Mark Nicholas for today's innings break "That's Stumps Boys" Interview.
MN: Thanks very much Allan, yep I'm here with Shaun for a short interview, now Shaun, can you sum up what you thought of your team's performance?
SP: Um, it was great overall I think Mark, the boys are happy with the performance, we managed to get them out for less than 250 which on a nice batting pitch is always great.
MN: And yourself, what did you think of your own performance?
SP: I was pretty pleased with it Mark, 3 wickets is always a good haul in ODI Cricket, and two danger men in Paul Collingwood and Kevin Pietersen, plus James Anderson who caused us some trouble in the end.
MN: Now it's a pretty new team playing here, lots of new faces, a new coach and a new captain, what did you think of them?
SP: Uh it's always an adjustment with a new captain and coach, but I've been impressed so far, aus5892 has been a great manager, and not making himself captain was honourable, and WildWil has been good today, I liked the field settings he did, wasn't afraid to make a change, and same with bowling, only thing that could be better about our bowling was if I opened (laughs).
MN: Were you disappointed not to be opening?
SP: Well I was a little but I understand, it's a new generation, and I'm happy to be in the side at the moment, I think Makhaya Ntini was unlucky to be left out, and Andre Nel too they're both great bowlers but I'm glad to be here plaing for my country, not everyone gets to, and it's always a thrill.
MN: Well what do you think about the boy's chances of winning at this stage?
SP: I think we're a great chance, we've got some great batsmen, Graeme Smith and WildWil will have to put us up to a good start, and hopefully we can avoid losing wickets like England did, I think their aggression just let them down a bit, they were off to a flyer early but we drew them back. I think we have the talent to avoid a collapse, but it will take a good effort, they've got a fair bit of talent there in the bowling lineup, so it'll be tough.
MN: Alright I don't want to keep you waiting, go and have some dinner, and hopefully we'll see you again tonight.
SP: Hopefully not, we should hopefully win by then.
MN: Alright thanks to Shaun Pollock there, we'l be back in about 15 minutes for the start of the second innings, can South Africa beat England tonight in this match and take an early lead, or will the English bounce back? Find out soon on SuperSports across the globe.
