Take a bow, Bryce Street! He breaks his highest score with a mammoth 195 that broke the back of Hobart's attack. Two of Sydney's three keeping options - Josh Philippe and Jake Doran - backed up their fifties, while Street at the other end just munched through balls. Pat Cummins was Hobart's best bowler, while two runouts was also a good sign from their fielders - shame they struggled elsewhere.
Hobart's innings was surprisingly similar to England's second in the Brisbane Ashes test. Two eighties - Usman Khawaja and the impressive Dan Solway - but not much else, and it fell away after Solway chopped on on 89. That was largely down to the four wickets Nathan Lyon took, while Richardson and Kelly also showed their skills.
Sydney declared at tea on the fourth day, leaving Hobart to try and score 424 or survive 4 sessions to avoid defeat. Street was again key, while Tom Cooper showed grit to combine for a hundred stand with the star youngster. Michael Hogan picked up four of the eight Sydney wickets to fall, and was generally miserly in doing so.
Usman Khawaja looked pretty good for his 56, but after he chopped on and Jhye Richardson pinned Marsh LBW shortly after, the game was gone for Hobart. Richardson also got Harris for a duck, and Kelly and Lyon got three wickets of their own. Sydney win the first game of the tournament.

Another huge ton was made in the first innings of this game, with David Warner falling just short of his double century. Wells, Smith and Agar all also made fifties. Mitchell Starc nearly did too (in overs bowled) but he was rewarded with five wickets, including Warner for 199 and opening partner Bancroft for a starkly contrasting 0.
Brisbane's innings appeared to be playing for the draw as they scored at just 2.5 runs per over. Joe Burns faced 290 balls before being dismissed two short of his ton, while Marnus Labuschagne was the only Queenslander to play an attacking innings, scoring 77 at a strike rate of around 70. The Adelaide quicks - James Pattinson and Chris Tremain - combined for nine of the wickets.
Adelaide declared an hour into the final day. David Warner set the foundation for his longtime Aussie running mate Steve Smith to play a blistering knock of 74 from 70 balls. With Tom O'Connell pulling up sore after the first innings and not bowling, and Mitch Starc being quite ineffective this time, young quicks Wes Agar and David Moody stood up to do the real damage for Brisbane.
Brisbane were hit by the Brisbane Collapse Phenomenon, eventually being bowled out an hour before stumps. The destroyer was unlikely - Thomas Rogers took his maiden five-wicket haul, including key Brisbane bat Marnus Labuschagne, to win the game for Adelaide. Having been 7/92 thanks to failures in the top order, Alex Carey gave Brisbane a chance of the draw, with partnerships with Starc and Moody giving them a chance, but he fell short.

Note to all teams: I've noticed the game is picking up part timers like N Maddinson and T Cooper as being better than they actually are and giving them too many overs. As such, they're being nerfed at the conclusion of this round
Perth's (except Matt Wade) intent in the first innings was to just survive, and they ground out 387 from nearly two days of batting. Peter Handscomb faced 270 balls for his 71, and Marsh 190 for his 65 - those two were the key players.Jack Bird picked up five while Peter Siddle conceded less than two an over from 29 overs. Note that 82 was added by the last two wickets.
Local youth Ed Newman did a job for Melbourne, scoring a lovely 87 on first class debut. But when he was dismissed, his team crumbled at the hands of Josh Hazlewood and Mitch Marsh. It fell to star bowlers Siddle and Bird to give themselves something to bowl at and half centuries for each did that job very well. Hazlewood cleaned up the tail to finish with a seven-for.
After two innings with important tail wags, the tail didn't even have a chance to bat in this innings. This was largely thanks to Matthew Wade bringing up a ton, ably assisted by a 60 from Josh Inglis. His dismissal, bowled by young Mitch Perry, brought the declaration with Melbourne needing 367 from just over a day in a tough pitch.
The Melbourne chances of even drawing seemed to be extinguished at 5/68, thanks to more top order failures. Cam Green and Harry Nielsen got together, though, and scored a lovely pair of half centuries, with Green finding the fence 16 times. The wickets were much more shared around than the first innings, but interestingly it was Hilt Cartwright who had the best figures - three cheap wickets including Green and Jordan Silk.

NT started their season proper with a surprisingly good batting performance. Four players passed 50, including opener Mire and allrounder Kerr, but what really set up their 444 was the 158-run partnership shared by Beau Webster and D'Arcy Short for the third wicket. Surprisingly, the world's most fragile man took three wickets and bowled over 40 overs as NT batted through two days to declare overnight on the third. Cooper Connolly's DNB may be a bug - I will investigate before next round
First off, @Aislabie if you could mark some ARs as not to bowl next time, that would be very cash money
Canberra wouldn't have been too disappointed with being only about 60 runs behind after the first innings, as a professional job with the ball would probably result in an achievable target or at least a good chance of a draw (something that seemed likely overnight on Day 2). They would have been more disappointed at Will Pucovski's failure to go on after hammering the likes of Beau Webster all around the park, and also that Tim Ward couldn't crack three figures, falling on 99. Scott Boland's four wickets made him the pick of the NT bowlers.
A poor second innings for NT put Canberra in a winnable position. Few NT batsmen fired - Webster, Short and Jake Weatherald all fell between 34 and 30, but after them the next highest score was 17. Ben Dwarshuis , a man who does not play much long form cricket, was the destroyer with four wickets.
Canberra cut it fine but got home with four overs to spare, leaving D'Arcy Short to rue his declaration. Dan Hughes scored a lovely 75 before being bowled by IRL teammate Hayden Kerr to give NT one last chance, one that was denied by swift batting from Tim Ward and Jimmy Peirson.

Dan Hughes scored a lovely 75 before being bowled by IRL teammate Hayden Kerr to give NT one last chance, one that was denied by swift batting from Tim Ward and Jimmy Peirson.
