We were looking at doing it in 20 overs. Don't know how it turned out to be 44 overs.
That Imran had a good game, good with the bat and not too bad with the ball. First I've heard of him.

its this left-arm spinner problem

the amount of times ive seen our top-order batsmen get trapped in front by arm-balls is amazing (99% of the time to Dan Vettori) lol

I noticed that, I always thought Vettori was good but really we make him look way better than he really is. Hes good and deserves the praise given but hes definitely not as unplayable as we make him look. Same as Rafique, SL had no problems with him but suddenly hes turned to be as good as Murali against us.

Im proud of how katich played, he must have been reading our comments from earlier threads and tried to put them in action.
Unfortunately this time it didnt pay off runs wise but i think he played perfectly.

While gilly was going off, he was almost doing nothing except blocking and running and little pushes for singles, allowing Gilly to hog all the strike.
For once in their partnerships Gilly was facing 3 times as many balls than Katich.
Then when Gilly got out Katich tried to keep the runs flowing so new guy could settle in but unfortunately he mistimed it an got out.

Perfectly played i would rather him score 20 off 30balls than 50 off 90balls anyday.

I would never rely on Hoggs batting, always seems to get out when needed.

Ponting has no idea on how to use bowlers.

I knew Gilchrist would perform well in these ODI's no pressure and flat tracks = :happy :hpraise :cheers

Yes, the skill of Gilchrist can change a match :D

Well, it could be an interesting series. It looks like they could get away with 1 or 2 wins in this series. If the batters do their bit and don't lose early wickets and bowlers attack early then they could easily get another win.

Don't like the way Gilly plays?

i have confidence in Hogga's batting

he's done the job for us lots of times since the WC, he even has 3 or 4 FC centuries i think, so he has ability.

Forgetting Giles, are we :p. A contributary factor to how much Vettori has troubled Australia is the approach they take when facing him, although it's not always failure, I remember in the 5-match ODI Series when Australia were touring NZ early 2005, the general tactic was to frustrate the left-armer by not allowing him confidence through wickets, but not worrying about his economy. They knew he was the link to any confidence they would have as a fielding side in the absence of Bond, and by grinding him down, Fleming would have few options. The defensive attitude didn't always work, yet when they began to attack, even though they were occassionally beaten in flight, they'd gone through their strokes with enough confidence that the runs ticked over consistently, so success came more frequently....
Anyway, a scare there for Aus after a fluent start, but they came through in the end, as was expected.

Maybe Pakistan should give Inzamam some net practice ahead of the next match against Australia? He is a left-arm spinner aswell! :D

That's different, Giles is one of the most useless bowlers on the international stage at the moment (btw on a completely unrelated matter, how did Mitchell Johnson bowl this time around? I didn't see it.)

Why not - and tell Danish to start bowling with his left arm while you're at it :D

Stop raving about Gillys "Heroics".

It's Bangladesh, they probably wouldn't even get into the Derbyshire team.

I hear he bowled pretty well apart from the odd bad ball. Got the ball swinging and was troubling the batsmen.

To anyone who actually saw yesterday's match, how was Cullen's rhythm? Was he confident enough to attempt the variations he executes so well on the domestic stage, or was he throwing it up, turning it...? I missed alot of the Cricinfo commentary so couldn't really get an idea of how he bowled, apart from the statistics, which are usually pretty inconclusive unless exaggerated one way or the other.....

From the reports and from my friend that watched it Cullen flighted the ball but didn't turn it much. Hogg on the other hand was able to get lots of turn from his wrongun. So Cullen is having problems turning the ball, also had troubles turning it in the test match.
