His batting has always been his strong point. It's kinda strange that it took Watson this long, you would think the bowling coaches would have taught him the arc of outswing. Oh well better late than never.

Watson was at least getting into the 140km/h.

Funnily enough, so was Hopes. Not on as regular a basis, but occasionally he was tipping the mark during the recent VB Series.
Yeah it is a little strange about how Watson's bowling has developed, but then again, Flintoff used to fill a similar containing role at reasonable pace with little ability to move the ball through the air or off the pitch, and look at how he's turned that aspect of his game around. (Although trying to mirror him wouldn't be the ideal process for everybody).

Lol, ill bet there is no outswinger, knowing Watson the next time he bowls for Australia it will be the same useless rubbish lol

but who cares...we have Henriques :)

Who knows, Henriques might bowl gun-barrel straight too :p

yeh knowing australia's luck

just about every other int'l team has a talented allrounder, yet australia cant buy one

Eng - Flintoff
NZ - Oram
SAF - Kallis
WI - Bravo
IND - Pathan
Pak - Razzaq
SRL - Maharoof

unfair isnt it

Because we shouldnt be playing 5 specialist bowlers and i want to see Cosgrove play so one of them are the most likely to be dropped.

Also i get the feeling Ponting isnt a fan of Hogg as he is always reluctant to bowl him even though he normally does a good job.

Add Bangladesh who have Rafique ;) And Zimbabwe had Streak, Ervine, and Blignaut.
But Henriques looks the real deal, Watson I'll have to wait and see on his so called outswinger.

Anyway we have named a full strength team so I'm guessing same as the 1st ODI so no Cosgrove until the final ODI.

Jason Gillespie!!! Bingo!!!

I seriously don't see why he couldn't be one. If he can get a double then promote him a few places and get him to work on playing a few more shots.

What about Symonds? He's not counted as an all-rounder? Or even Clarke?

If you would class their bowling good enough to get into our test side on bowling alone then yes they would be called an all rounder.

You can't possibly count Gillespie as an all rounder. Sure it was a fantastic knock but as an all rounder you have got to be consistent with the bat and with ball. To me that Gillespie innings was a one off and I would really like to see him try and do it again against any other attack in the world.

I know, I am joking.

Theres Lee, Warne and him who can all bat a little bit. I mean, I just don't think Australia need an all-rounder. If they can find someone who is good then great.
