Good series win for Australia after going down in the first Test. 15 wickets in 3 games for Lee is a great return to form after a prolonged absence from the side.

Yeah, he only played the final match. Took 1 wicket I think, maybe 3.

From now on I'll produce some series stats. i.e Wickets taken, hundreds scored.

Yeah, I was amazed he played so well after missing so much cricket! He was straight back in form. Need to get Clark fit now!

Australia Gain 1st Innings Lead

Michael Johnson celebrates another test hundred, making 111 from 170 balls

Australia, on the back of some good bowling in the first innings, have managed a 90 run lead going into the second innings in the first test. Peter Siddle was destructive with the ball, claiming 5-96 as Pakistan made 370 on a good batting strip. Australia came out to bat looking very aggressive, with every batsman making a start except Michael Hussey who failed with 1. A century to Mitchell Johnson was the highlight from the Australian innings as him and Haddin, 93, put on 170 for the 7th wicket. Michael Clarke batted well for 84 as Australia look to bowl Pakistan out cheaply so they don't have a massive final day chase in this first and important test match.

Play resumes on Day 3 in the third session with Pakistan looking to set Australia a decent toal to chase.

Johnson and Haddin were superb, getting a lot of runs. Siddle bowled well getting a fiver and hopefully Australia can go on to win.

Pakistan K.O'd in Boxing Day Test
84754.jpg

Hussey finally finds joy as he reaches 100 in the second innings to steer Australia to victory

Pakistan have lost the first test match in this three test series by 6 wickets as Australia chased 260 comfortably thanks to a centuries from Phil Hughes and Michael Hussey. Pakistan, all out for 349 knew it wasn't going to be easy to bowl Australia out in one day - and to restrict them to 260 or less even harder. Hughes took to the bowlers and did a fantastic job in finishing unbeaten on 130, whilst Mike Hussey returned to form with a fantastic 103, in a 200 run partnership with Hughes. Michael Hussey will feel a sense of relief and joy after a great knock seing as he hasn't scored decent runs since the Ashes tour. Pakistan will surely make some changes to their bowling attack after failing to make any impact, apart from Umar Gul who snared a five wicket haul. The second Test from Adelaide Oval begins shortly with Australia expected to make no changes from the winning side, unless the pitch seems to offer something to the spin bowlers. In which Hauritz would be the likely inclusion. Stuart Clark also returns from injury, so Tait will definetly be making way for either Hauritz or Clark.

Man of the Match: Mitchell Johnson 111 runs from 170 balls, 3-63 & 1-69

Top stuff Hooper, Mitch Johnson getting a good century there as well.

Obviously a big boxing day crowd in (as illustrated by Hussey picture).

Haha, biggest boxing day crowd ever, must have an electric atmosphere down there aye?

Haha, thanks blake.

Yeah, uhh, who cares about Pakistan matches eh? :p

Stoked about Mitch Johnson finding some form, finally my bowlers are producing!

Don't know what I should do, who should I drop? I'm thinking of dropping Tait for Clark, but I want a spinner as well...Decisions, decisions.

Hooper added 7 Minutes and 18 Seconds later...

Added the scorecards.

I`ve got the perfect solution, get Warnie out of retirement since you want a spinner. It`d be good for him, just lose a lil bit of weight :p. Drop Tait for Hauritz if its a turning pitch, but if its more of a seamer`s pitch, i reckon go with a full-pace bowling line up and drop Tait for Clark.

Australia Take Series

100838.jpg

Peter Siddle roars in delight after taking the 2nd wicket in his 4-91 in the first innings

Australia has wrapped up the test series against Pakistan, 2-0 with a test to spare. Pakistan, again failed to take 20 wickets in the match as centuries from Ricky Ponting and Phil Hughes ensured Australian victory. Bowlers Mitchell Johnson, Peter Siddle and Brett Lee were all damaging with the ball as Pakistan crumbled early in both innings. David Hussey, who replaced Marcus North for this series, scored a good half century to replace the faith shown in the selectors. Man of the Match Ricky Ponting was pleased with the win:
"To win back to back test series at home is really pleasing and just shows how the team is travelling at the moment, I think Johnno, Binga and Sids all bowled well this series so far. With the dead rubber coming up, we'll probably rest Tait and bring back Stuey Clark and Hauritz will probably come in for Siddle to have a rest."

In other news, pressure is mounting on opener Simon Katich to perform after failing again with the bat, so far this year the "Katman" has averaged an abysmal 36.34 with the bat. With the series already Australia's, Katich is hoping he can find some touch to cement his ODI spot for the upcoming series.

106110.jpg

Katich needs runs to back his selection as test opener after averaging only 36.34 this calender year

Player of the Match: Ricky Ponting 130 & 35

With the end of the 2009 calendar year, the ICC has released the standings and results for the best Test team, ODI team, Test bowler/batsman and ODI bowler/batsman. Australia once again dominated the team awards with new up and coming youngster Phillip Hughes showing us how dominant he was in his first full year of international cricket.

Finally, Hussey scores a hundred! Get in son! If only he could do that in real life.

A great all round performance from the Australians in the series. Hopefully Australia will win the series 3-0.

Added fixtures to the first post. Added Ashes scorecards for stats freaks who want to look...And see what players are good and what players are crap. :D

ODI update coming up soon.

A great year Hooper! Hughes looks unstoppable at the moment, in both forms of the game. Also good year for Johnson and Siddle.

I think the Pakistan ODI series will be more difficult than the Test series, though.
