Australia tour of New Zealand 2010

Just wondering looking ahead to the 2011 WC. What do you Kiwis reckon will be your best XI & 15-Man squad, once all are fit?. I'll give it a try:

Ryder
McCullum
Guptil
Taylor
Elliot
Styris
Oram
Vettori
McCullum
Mills
Bond

Hopkins, Tuffey/McKay, Southee, Ingram/Williamson

I reckon BJ Watling will come into the team at some point, so Brendon McCullum will probably move back down the order.

Jesse Ryder
Martin Guptill
Kane Williamson
Ross Taylor
Grant Elliott
Scott Styris
Brendon McCullum +
Daniel Vettori
Kyle Mills
Tim Southee
Shane Bond

BJ Watling, Darryl Tuffey, Nathan McCullum, Shanan Stewart.

Watling can keep to a pretty good standard so if Brendon McCullum goes down he'd be able to hold the fort down for a few games at least.

Jesse Ryder and McCullum have to open together as far as I'm concerned. Fantastic pair.

Jesse Ryder
+Brendon McCullum
Kane Williamson
Ross Taylor
Martin Guptill
Grant Elliott
Scott Styris
Daniel Vettori
Kyle Mills
Tim Southee/Darryl Tuffey
Shane Bond

Unless Martin Guptill improves on rotating the strike early on there's noway he can bat any lower then three.

Yeah, Brendon McCullum and Jesse Ryder have a fantastic record when opening together, but with guys like Williamson and Watling most likely pushing for spots in the near future we'll have to re jigg the order a little bit. AFAIC McCullum would win a lot more games for New Zealand going in down the order and being able to play all his paddles and flicks and not having to worry about batting for a certain amount of overs.

He's going to stand in the doorway and not let anyone past

Haha nice :D

I don't know if you can have Elliott and Styris both in the team at the same time, because in a lot of respects they're very similar players.

Agree with this, I feel Oram, Frnaklin, Elliot, and Styris are all going for only two spots.

I'm guessing Oram will walk into the team when fit, so the other AR spot will be out of the other three.

My team would be:

Ryder
Guptill
Williamson
Taylor
Elliot
Styris
McCullum
Vettori
Mills
Tuffey/Southee
Bond

On another note, it was a great atmosphere yesterday, but the result was not what we the crowd wanted.
Not sure why they didn't show the run out on the big screen, as after seeing the replay it was very close.

Flippen security guard kicked me and my mates out at the end, as we were the last people in there looting all the crap that people left over.
Found a brand new Taylormade golf hat, which probably paid for my ticket in.

CG123 added 2 Minutes and 17 Seconds later...

Also crowd was going ballistic when Tuffey and Bond were batting, as well as in Bonds first over.

Gosh another failure, pretty insane stuff!!! H's going to have to bat pretty magnificently in the NZ nets.....

In 2001 during the Ashes Martyn replaced Langer due to his amazing FC form on tour, no reason why Smith cant edge out North here.

The difference is that Hussey and Hayden were long established and deserved a break. As with all new players like North they only get 2 or 3 tests of failures and they are out of there. Hodge, Katich, Clarke, Blewett, Martyn all got dropped over the past 10 years with only a few failures. Obviously we have been winning but you'd figure North at best is on his last legs.
