Australia tour of New Zealand 2010

Ponting seems to play better when the conditions are harder, hes struggled on the easier tracks but bang tonight on the hardest track of the series so far he scored at well over a run a ball.

Good series win. Our team has changed so much since this time last year, much better now.

Yep side is perfect, Watson proving a 5th bowling option and Hopes a 6th. White giving us the inform Symonds role at 5 and Watson and Haddin killing it at the top.

Selectors got it fine not their fault the players played poorly.

Indeed. Some people seem to think the selectors are some kind of gods who control what happens during a match :facepalm

We should do some team overhauls for the last game. Southee needs to be dropped. N McCullum may as well play.

Oh how the wheel turns. 2 weeks ago, Southee was the new hero, the man who could bowl yorkers at will, the new king of death bowling, the future of NZ fast bowling.

I'd be keeping him in personally - unless you really like Michael Mason.

Gotta also say having Marsh injured has helped us, Haddin is perfect to open, the balance is just right. Hopes proving more and more that he is just as valuable as anyone, a typical one day cricketer that does his job unoticed most of the time but his contributions are gold.

A keeper at the top gives us so much flexibility, to play an all rounder or another bat in that position, which helps us get our team balance right.

Ferguson and Hopes the men for that spot atm.

Yeah, hopefully that was just a comment out of frustration because other then today and the first four overs of the first ODI Tim Southee's been pretty good. You can't blame the bowlers when the batsmen aren't getting the job done.

Until the HRV Cup and the recent 20/20 series against Australia Tim Southee was a very average 20/20 bowler, he's improved a lot over the past 6-12 months. His best form of the game is the four day stuff still though, I mean he's already picked up 100 FC wickets and he's only 21.

Agree I was saying this before Marsh got a game this summer that he would just walk into the side at full strength. Seems the selectors have finally caught on as early in the season they were playing Marsh ahead of Hopes. I was starting to get worried about Hopes bowling as before this match his bowling has been pedestrian. As mentioned we can also bring Ferguson who will add to our finishing or Steven Smith when we could use another spinner.

Hastings our next Hopes?

Mitch Marsh would want to be in that team by the 2015 World Cup.

Taller and maybe more effective hitter. Christian probably is the closest to him, bowls very similar to him, again with more hitting power.
