Even though the stats say they are close, Johnson is way ahead of him in the bowling. Comparing their batting, I would say Hauritz is more consistent and can also score just as quick as Johnson. He might not be as big a hitter as him but hes more than capable of hitting the boundaries.
As for the Test, well I found it quite astounding that one source in the British media had New Zealand "on top" when they were 15/1 in their 1st innings.
Johnson certainly has some rare abilities, but in terms of basic technique and temperament, Hauritz is a better batsman. He's also better able to handle himself in one dayers as a result.I don't think you can compare Hauritz with Johnson, Hauritz isn't an all-rounder it's just his figures are handy for a lower order batsman and five of his 19 innings to date have been not out with one score of 75 making up 1/4 of his runs.
RPI - Johnson 44 inns, 924 runs @ 21.00 rpi vs Hauritz 19 inns, 329 runs @ 17.32 rpi
Johnson's is hardly quality all-rounder standards, as for bowling well Hauritz has the disadvantage of being an off-spinner while Johnson has the advantage of being a left armer.
McIntosh getting bowled so much is an obvious technical issue. One we can't afford an opener to have.
