Australia tour of New Zealand 2010

To be fair O'Brien wasn't really an ODI bowler though he would have made the side at the moment with so many injuries. He'd be a lot better choice than Mason.

Once we start getting tons again, we'll be unbeatable.

Could say the same for us.

Paine is the future though. Haddin only has a few more years. He was dropped a few times and had a close run-out chance. Was just his day. At the moment Haddin is the better bet though. I think Haddin should stay down the order. He struggled early, as lucky enough to get through it and then dined on our weak 4th and 5th bowling options. We really made a selection blunder there.

Hopefully Haddin can break our 100 duck and maybe even cement himself as our opener.

Agree 100%. Having Haddin open- and doing it so well- gives us another batting option lower down or an allrounder, and we need it. Marsh opening was too much of a luxury, and i'm not sure Haddin isnt better anyway.

Marsh just wasn't good enough, he made a 100 I think but still it was so slow that it hardly mattered. Haddin atm is definetly a better option.

Yeah Haddin opening the innings is far better for Australia IMO, makes them a all-round stronger team.

On tonight, well what can you do? New Zealand batted decently well (until the 41st over) but not enough people went on with their starts (I'm looking at you mostly Ross Taylor). Would like to see Stewart come into the team for the next game at the expense of Broom who's now had enough chances AFAIC.

1 hour till our much anticipated Test squad is announced. Don't think North's latest failure will be taken into account, but boy hes in bad form.

Ouch, North is such terrible form, gotta feel for the guy. Kinda feel though that he wasnt the greatest choice for a test spot anyway, he was never a standout performer at Shield level, more a quiet steady player.

I could see the reason for picking him originally, a steady gritty batsmen that could help us out when a collapse occurred and handy bowling option over Dussey who was the other contender I believe, who is known for throwing his wicket away which was a bit of a problem at the time. But hes really struggled to do that role especially when he comes in for under 150.

Apparently New Zealand is only going to make one change and that's Ingram out with Guptill moving up to open with Franklin coming back in.

Must say if that happens Ingram has been harshly treated.

And here is the Test squad

The Test squad is:

Ricky Ponting (c) (TAS)
Michael Clarke (vc) (NSW)
Doug Bollinger (NSW)
Brad Haddin (NSW)
Nathan Hauritz (NSW)
Ryan Harris (QLD)
Phillip Hughes (NSW)
Mike Hussey (WA)
Mitchell Johnson (WA)
Simon Katich (NSW)
Clint McKay (VIC)
Marcus North (WA)
Steven Smith (NSW)
Shane Watson (NSW)

No surprises and doesn't look like North will be replaced unless they plan on throwing Hughes in at 6 or changing their tune on Smith as a spinner first.

Good on NZC for showing some balls and getting rid of someone who has no future at the top level. Normally we would mess around for at least 12 months with useless players before getting rid of them.
