Australia vs England ODI Series - 7 matches - Sep 4 to Sep 20

That's for the future, I believe that it'll definately be Warner and Paine opening in the future.

Ive never been a big fan of Warner, and have not seem him impress since the SA innings. Have you guys given up on Shaun Marsh?

Well done to Tim Paine for that century, gonna put so much pressure on Haddin.

Really? you dont think Haddins spot is secure even after putting all those years in as Gillys understudy?

If this was England then I would understand, but Aus gives their players a decent run and Haddin is a pretty decent bat by my books.

I thought Tim Paine was quite impressive during this series. Surely you can keep him in instead of Haddin since he's a much better keeper. Perhaps you could move Paine down or open with Hopes?

I didn't see much in his ODI stint that impressed me. He was solid but after all the hype from the IPL about him being a fast scorer he didn't live up to expectation. Warner might have toned down his aggression will have to see how he goes in the Ford Ranger Cup this season but we are missing that destructive opener to get us off to a flyer. The top teams have at least one guy that can blast away at the top.

Hopes is fairly hit and miss at the top, if he was going to open it should be a switch with Watson. Problem is Hopes isn't even in our best 11. Paine will have the Champions trophy to really push his claim, so far I can only recall Collingwood actually getting him out. The other ones have been due to his moving around his crease so he could become that consistent run scorer we need at opener.

I hope we do lose 7-0, in the hope that the selectors get a wake-up and realise that changes in THINKING tactics are needed as well as personnel. If this is the best we have, allowing for no Flintoff or Pietersen, then we're in trouble.

England batting (100+ runs)

Strauss : 220 runs @ 36.67
Collingwood : 107 runs @ 35.67
Morgan : 151 runs @ 30.20
Bopara : 154 runs @ 25.67
Shah : 153 runs @ 25.50
Prior : 101 runs @ 16.83

Complete waste of Prior batting him too high.

England bowling (4+ wickets)

Anderson : 6 wkts @ 33.17
Swann : 4 wkts @ 35.75
Bresnan : 5 wkts @ 49.60

Sidebottom has played every game, bowled 52 overs and taken just three wickets @ 93.67. What does Onions have to do to get a game? And Trott?

I suggest we change the whole XI for the last ODI, give others a chance and anyone who has done ok ie Strauss, a game off

This is a good idea, but they have to try and make something out of this squad of players in time for the Champion's Trophy.

We've only got like 2 others in squad, Rashid + Onions. Collingwood has been rested, Wright and Flintoff injured. So there is basically no room for maneouvre. The worst thing is that our Champions Trophy squad is much different to this dire one!

How different is the Champions Trophy squad to this side?

I think he meant to say it isn't much different. They're not going to be able to do anything different for the CT.

Yeah sorry, thanks for correcting me. The squad really isn't any different!

Shaun Marsh will come back once he is over his injuries, remember he played during the Aussie home season ODI's but tore a hamstring at the MCG vs SA, then returned in the Pakistan series before the Ashes this year but tore it again, he is very much the 1st choice opener with Watson.

I will throw a wobbly if Onions doesn't play in place of Sidebottom. Give Rashid some game time too!

Not many players will come out of this series with some credit. I think Strauss has dismissed the notion of him not being able to play ODI cricket. Morgan has played well in parts too. I like the look of Denly too. I think Wright's bowling surprised a few too.
