Australia

He might need to call it a day as the WC was really his swansong, now he would just be stopping young NSW bowlers a chance to gain more experience. Especially since Clark is already in the OD team. At best he should finish out the season and hopefully a finals win but then it should be time for him to leave on a high.
I think he and Clark are kind of halfway to being on the staff anyway, not that it is a conflict of interest. Damien Wright coaches the bowlers for Victoria and still plays the odd game when they need.

In current time,Team Aussies going in a difficult time, they lost several series in home & away, but still Australia will do something high in the upcoming World Cup.
My first XI is: -
Watson

Dead serious.

1. Shane Watson
2. Brad Haddin
3. Ricky Ponting
4. Michael Clarke
5. Cameron White
6. Michael Hussey
7. Dan Christian
8. Mitchell Johnson
9. Nathan Hauritz
10. Brett Lee
11. Doug Bollinger

With Tim Paine, Callum Ferguson, Shaun Tait and Xavier Doherty rounding out the rest of the squad. Has Ryan Harris actually been ruled out yet, because if he's fit he'd be in my squad.

Bad news for McKay. Because of his foot injury he is ruled out of the World Cup.

Shaun Marsh and Callum Ferguson are set to miss out on Australia's World Cup defence on the subcontinent next month because they do not offer part-time bowling options.

In a selection move that could mirror the Ashes shambles, Australia will not consider any bats- man - apart from captain Ricky Ponting and veteran Mike Hussey - who does not bowl.

Sources close to the national selection panel confirmed yesterday that David Hussey, who is experiencing his worst domestic season, was preferred to Marsh and Ferguson in the opening one-dayer against England on Sunday because he bowls occasional off-spinners.

The 15-man World Cup squad will be picked after that match at the MCG with six of the batsmen who lost the Ashes 3-1 set to be included.

"The selectors only want players who can do two things," a source said. "Marsh is good enough to play as an international one-day bats- man but he will miss out because he does not bowl."

Marsh faces World Cup axe ... because he can't bowl! - The West Australian

Oh dear oh dear, sooner we get rid of these idiots the better. We have enough part time bowlers in the expected side, we certainly don't need to be picking another one. And even if they are using this stupid policy, Hodge is a better pick than Dussey and Christian offers more than him as well.

Yep a shame for McKay as he is one of those consistent bowlers that we could use. That could be enough to get Hastings into the side if he wasn't already.

Aus needs a (or two) real opener(s). Drop Watson down to 3, a get a proper opener. But unless you guys are satisfied with his 50s...

Watson is fine at opener, if he does his usual then a 50 from 40 balls will be just fine. Don't really want that from your number 3 however. And of course Ponting will be there.

Well Harris will be very lucky to make the world cup with that injury. Paine before Haddin?? I did see that right didnt i?! I hope smith gets a go too. Will get alot more turn from him than doherty.

Pissed off with Mckay being ruled out . Was brilliant in the one off ODI game against india up there at the subcontinent , claimed the MoM award in Australia's most recent ODI victory against the Lankans . Such a fine bowler :(

My probable bowling attack in the playing XI (though going with 4 pacers is a highly risky thing to do at SC pitches) :

Brett Lee
Doug Bollinger
Shaun Tait
Mitchell Johnson
Nathan Hauritz
Steven Smith
Shane Watson

If IMO one of the pacers had to removed from that list , i would say Johnson but again , its only my opinion .
Still a fantastic bowling unit but the real shocker to me being the axe of Shaun Marsh . He can play anywhere from 1-6 (Hilditch probably needs to see the Lords ODI against England in 2010 or the Hyderabad ODI against India in 2009) , why would the selectors want him to bowl to make the 15 men cut . Sorry to say this , but Hilditch , time has come to fling your ass out of the selector's role :facepalm .

I was gonna say open with Warner and Marsh. But that's probably the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Their a pure bat, why do they need to be a part time bowler. So they want both of their openers to be a part time bowler? Well Ponting should be dropped, because he can't bowl, AND he is forgetting how to bat.

I want Ponting to go down at 5, but he will never agree to that. I forgot about U.K. He can open too.

Come on now fellas. Although the selection of Dussey can be criticised although im backing him to silence a few critics.

The reasoning of having batsmen in form who can contribute occasional off-spin bowling like Dussey & Hodge instead of guys like Ferguson, Warner, Marsh. Its very sane logic considering the world cup will be played in the SC.
