Australian Domestic Cricket

Now that is more like NSW. Mitch Marsh showing hes a talent to look out for, so far ahead of the next big scorer it wasn't funny. Good team effort in the end, all bowlers making a contribution apart from Smith who only bowled 1 over anyway.

Damn I was really hoping Hughes would make a ton this time, he was owning the WA bowlers but again found a way of getting out cheaply.

After being 5-156 and 6-194 the Vics went on to make 389. Just goes to show the depth and all-round strength of the batting in the team. I don't honestly see how any of the teams apart from NSW can seriously challange the Victorian team.

You compare the Bushrangers batting line-up which has Rogers, Hodge, Jewell, Hussey, White, McDonald, 5 out of 6 of them have played for Australia, and then we have Wade who is very talented and averages in the 30's and our no 8 and 9 could argubly be considered all-rounders to Queenslands who have players like Kruger, Reardon, Townsend, Simpson who are basically grade cricket batsmen. They have Hartley, Broad and Carsledine who are solid at best but not much else.

Tasmania 389 & 129/4
South Australia 363
Match drawn - Tasmania take 1st Innings Points

Play on the last day in Hobart didn't start 'til 1:40pm cuz of rain. Basically turned it into batting practice for Tassie.

Another good bowling display by Bollinger and Hazelwood. Once again it's the Marsh state with Shaun making most of the runs.

McKay and Hastings were brilliant for Victoria.

The weather looks horrible down here in Hobart, won't be much chance of a start in the Tas V.S SA game.

Well we got some game time. Ended up being a 17 over slog feast. Haberfield the pick for SA and Cooper the pick of the batters with 78 off 43.

Is a disgrace how they got a game in. I thought each match had to be at least 20 overs?! Also the weather was really bad down here. Only stopped raining once during the day pretty much. They did play through the rain though.

James Pattinson looking good on debut, bowling mid-130s, the 19 year old claimed James Hopes with an outswinger for his first wicket. Jon Holland also opened the bowling to continue a returning trend of bowling spin early in a match. The dry surface at the MCG has already rewarded Victoria's decision to play two spinners, providing significant aid to Holland as the batsmen have struggled to time the ball off a full length. Nevertheless, they have only the one wicket and the batsmen might be able to use the start to build upon.

Class run out, Hartley defends to the onside and is a little over-eager for a quick single. The bowler Hastings gathers the ball around silly mid-on and throws the stumps down. It ends a 50 partnership.

And there is the problem with Hartley opening. Wasted too many balls and now hes out so he can't fix that. Can't see Queensland winning from here, there start has been too slow.

I can't even see 200 coming when it's been so difficult to put the bad ball away. Anyone who gets a decent score is going to have to waste balls.

Case in point; Hastings in the action again, short ball, Reardon top edges a pull straight behind, Wade goes hard and takes a good diving catch looking over his shoulder while running with the flight.

Phillipson built his innings carefully and launched from that platform, but Simpson has come out of nowhere, firing from the get-go and getting away with it all. The heavily depleted bowling attack for Victoria finally found its limit with McGain left to bowl the final over. After holding them to 5/145, they lacked the genuine pace to bowl at the death and conceded 116 for no wicket.

They do have the batting to rock even an international attack, but if the new ball plays for the Bulls like it did at 2 o'clock, then the Vics have got a tough task against the slippery Queensland quicks.
