Australian Domestic Cricket

Yeah but you'd usually need 20 wickets to win a pura cup match wouldnt u. so what NSW bat first put massive score enforce follow on and manage to get the 20th wicket late on the 4th day or somin.

No, the batters bat harder in One day cricket. They go more aggresive and the blues cant handle the overall pressure of the game I reckon.

i just cant believe how much NSW are dominating PURA CUP but are doing poorly in one dayers. i mean its not that much of a differance. they have quality players and shud perform aswell in the limited overs version

Never the case you just have to see the English who were good at Test but sucked in ODI, NZ were the same good in one form of the game but bad in the other so it should be no surprise that it's happening at domestic level too.

yeah but its quite amazing IMO that it can actually happen

Simple case of our bowlers don't like being attacked. Once you attack them they lose their line and length that you always see in the longer form of the game. And our batters just aren't consistent enough when it comes to scoring quick.

Actually, at domestic level, the one-day and first class teams can vary quite a lot. Young players are often used in one-dayers first and that can go either way.

In NSW's case, it's a lot to do with how one-dayers work. Having Hauritz at seven is not a great start, but it's not hard to see they rely on their 3 star batsmen to score. Guys like Cowan, Forrest and Thornley just don't ever seem to make runs and they've been very slow to test the waters with Hughes, much less any more inconspicuous talent. NSW actually tend to score about as badly in PC as they do in FR Cup, but something like a Katich 300 doubles their performance. You also won't see Nicko score a century in limited overs.

In theory they've got a great pace battery, but that's often not enough for one-dayers, because you have to bowl other guys. They like Lambert and Henriques because they're all-rounders, but instead of replacing the crappy batsmen, they tend to nudge someone useful.

Our bowlers have improved in the One day arena though now Henriques us finding form. But in the Pura Cup Haddin and Katich are averaging 100 and Cowan, Jaques, Forrest Now Hughes have all been chipping in a bit with the lower order like Casson and Nicho doing really well.

But in One Day cricket we cant handle the pressure of having to score fast. We only scored 269 at North Sydney Oval, thats disgraceful.

Hehe Victoria finally lose a 20/20 game, what a great sight :p
Very nice bowling by Heal 2 wickets and economical, Ronchi doing his usual flying start then getting out.

The usual NSW story, only Haddin scoring for us. Should try Hughes and a few other younger guys like Steven Smith. Thornely with all his experience should be alot more consistent than he is, hes one that should be on the chopping block. Good to see Henriques bat higher did well too.

Ugh, poor bowler selection. You can't pretend bowlers don't matter in T20. One of Denton or Harwood should have played.
