Australian Domestic Cricket

McGain still in the wickets, hes doing a good job at keeping his name up for selection.
He really is an incredible story, a year ago I was at a coaching clinic and he was there (didn't work with him as I'm not a spinner) but I remember that he was introduced as a former Victorian, and the talk about him retiring was there too, from himself even.

Now he's the second best spinner in the country!

I know what I'm invoking, but I reckon the national side could use Watson the way they're playing.

I've been calling for him too, but we have to make sure he isn't going to break down again. So I would wait to he hes a full season with no injury before picking him.

He certainly came from nowhere and no way in a million years would I have thought we would need a 35 going on 36 year old spinner.

It's such a frustrating situation. He's competitive in both forms, plus he's handy enough with the bat to be a good fit for ODIs. He might even have just enough time left to bridge the gap between the old guys and the next generation.

Still, he's 35. It's terrible to think that the board that fast-tracked Warne into stardom couldn't give this guy even a part-time job for a decade. There have been a lot of half-arsed pace bowlers to come through the ranks in that time.

They hardly fast tracked Warne, if anything they were a bit too cautious with him. He almost moved to NSW because he was frustrated. Even when he was called up to the national side, he still wasn't a regular when he returned, Victoria dropped him straight away when Australia sent him home after his debut.

I really hope Watson doesn't get called up. Hopes is doing a good job and Watto isn't getting in the squad as a specialist batsmen. Symonds, Hussey, Clarke, Ponting, Hayden and Gilchrist... do you wanna drop any of them?

When Gilly finishes this series Haddin will be in the squad and Hopes can open, so no breakthrough for Watto there.

Hopes batting against the spinners was the thing that put me off him. But he did make up for it with his bowling.

Casson making a last ditch effort for Hogg/Warne test spot, grabbing a 4 fer. Might have to play him over a batter can't do any worse than Forrest or Thornely have been doing, deserves to push his claim along with MacGill.

I see White is getting back in form again, been awhile but it's good to see.

Phil Hughes 6 50s in 9 inns now that is class in the making. Just needs to convert to a 100.

Geez even the part timers were making life hell for Victoria.

Redbacks swing the axe on Cosgrove
South Australian Cricket Association (SACA) selector David Kelly says Cosgrove remained an outstanding cricketer, but his form was not good enough to secure a spot in the team.

He will be replaced by Jake Brown, who will make his debut.

Yeah, Hughes can make the start but cant go on. When he finally cracks that century mark it will be damn sweet!

He provided great service but his time had come and we have shown that we've got more than enough depth in the bowling department.

Good to see the selectors going the way of my thinking.
MacGill has made a decent comeback 2 wickets even though it's against the fragile SA top order.
