yeah im going off the roster in the 4gb batpack. ill change them around probably for the next match but i thought ill just start off with this lineup at the moment
Simon Katich's immediate one day future looks to be in jeopardy after another
failure as Australia stumbled early to be 2/32. Zaheer Khan continued his impressive Australian tour with the early wicket of the opening batsman.
Katich fell for one of his softest dismissals when he misjudged the pace of the Khan slower ball, driving the ball into the safe hands of Yuvraj Singh at cover. It was a dissapointing performance from the New South Wales captain, who came into the match under a huge cloud surrounding his future in the team.
Australia suffered an early collapse at the hands of the Indian new ball attack of Zaheer Khan and Irfan Pathan to stumble to 3/51 after 10 overs. Damien Martyn was the 3 batsman to fall just before the 10 over point after being trapped plum infront and fired for 14 at the hands of Khan. Martyn will be very dissapointed in losing his wicket while looking confident in the middle.
Under the new ball pressure from Zaheer Khan (2/31) and Irfan Pathan (1/17), the Australian top order has crumbled to be 3/51 after only 10 overs at the MCG. Indian captain Rahul Dravid appears to have made the correct decision in electing to bowl first, with a hint of movement assisting his left arm pairing as they destroyed Adam Gilchrist (10), Simon Katich (10) and Damien Martyn (14).
Ricky Ponting (14 not out) and Andrew Symonds (yet to score) will have to work their way through a tough patch if Australia are going to get to a competitive total of close to 250.
Rahul Dravid has introduced the Australian public to Indias next big bowling hope in Shanthakumaran Sreesanth. Sreesanth, the young 23 year old quick from Kerala has been looked at as a hopeful candidate to be Indias next big pace star, and will look to make a solid debut against the worlds best team.
(Sreesanth limbers up at the top of his run up after being announced to the Australian public)
Andrew Symonds continued the Australian crumble when he was trapped in front by Irfan Pathan for 20 as Australia slumped to 4/96. Although Symonds may well feel hard done by after being adjudged LBW when there is strong claims the ball pitched outside the leg stump, yet another contentious call during the match.
Ricky Ponting now shoulders the major burden of saving the innings, while the home side are scoring at a constant rate of just over 5 runs per over, only having 6 wickets left may cause large problems towards the end of the innings.
Ricky Ponting continued his brave fight as Australia struggled to be 4/108 after 20 overs at Melbourne. Ponting has looked the goods during his unbeaten innings of 41 from 48 balls while Michael Clarke is still new to the crease with 5.
Zaheer Khan and Irfan Pathan have starred for the tourists with 2 wickets each. Australia can not afford to lose any more wickets in the next set of overs if they hope to make a competitive score.
Australian captain Ricky Ponting showed his class and fighting spirit with a stylish half century to put Australia in a stronger position at 4/126. Ponting stroked 4 boundaries and 2 sixes in his 53 ball innings of 52 not out. It has been a typical captains knock by one of the worlds best batsman, praying on the inexperience of Sreesanth (0/19 from 2 overs) in his potentially match saving innings.
