The Chase Begins

Indian openers Virender Sehwag and Mahendra Dhoni take to the pitch as they look to chase down the 296 runs required for victory. It is a perfect night in Melbourne with the lights on and the atmosphere electric.

Brett Lee will take the first over followed by fellow quick Glenn McGrath from the other.

Oh...Dhoni and sehwag.....
Good to keep Sachin in reserve!!!!
But difficult to chase such a big score under lights!!!
Anyways Gud Luck!!!!

Dhoni Blasts India To Flying Start - India 0/51 (6.0)

Indian wicketkeeper Mahendra Dhoni blasted his team into a strong position at 0/51 from only 6 overs as the tourists look to chase down 296 for victory. Dhoni is on fire with 36 not out from only 20 balls, while partner Virdender Sehwag is unbeaten on 13 from 16 deliveries. Brett Lee (0/22) and Glenn McGrath (0/29) have felt the brunt of the Dhoni storm.

Openers Control Innings - India 0/61 (10.0)

Brett Lee and Nathan Bracken held back the Indian opening pairing of Virender Sehwag and Mahendra Dhoni as India worked their way to 0/61 at the 10 over point. After the initial burst from Dhoni, the pair have settled the innings down in the hope of keeping wickets in reserve towards the end of the innings.

(The inital Indian attack has settled into a consolidating position. Still above the Australian run rate currently)

Dhoni Continues Streak - India 0/75

Mahendra Dhoni brought up a brutal half century to put India right in contention early in its reply run chase in Melbourne. Dhoni compiled his 53 not out from only 37 balls at a strike rate of 143. The young wicketkeeper has blazed away the opposition bowlers to take India to 0/75 after only 12 overs in the match.

(Brett Lee feels the hurt after Mahendra Dhoni works his magic)

Lee With The Breakthrough - India 1/82

Brett Lee finally produced the breakthrough for Australia, however it wasnt the man they were necessarily after as India lost their first wicket with the score on 82.

Virender Sehwag was the man to fall as he holed out to deep cover off the bowling of the worlds fastest bowler. Attempting to loft Lee out of the ground for six, Sehwag was only able to land the ball safely in the hands of Glenn McGrath in the deep.

Still Dhoni there...he is the dangerman....
India in good position....now they can just rotate strikes and find boundries in bad deliveries....
no need to panic for indians!!!!

Bw tht congrats mate for ur 2000th post..... :clap :clap :clap

Sachin Departs Early - India 2/86

Sachin Tendulkars ordinary Australian tour continued when he was dismissed for a second ball duck at the hands of Brad Hogg. After averaging only 8.16 runs in the test series, Tendulkars misery continued after edging to Adam Gilchrist. Attempting to glide the ball down to the vacant third man region, the master blaster could only manage a fine edge which was easily taken by Gilchrist.

Hogg Bags Dravid - India 3/98

The Western Australian pairing of Brad Hogg and Adam Gilchrist combined again to dismiss Rahul Dravid for 5 as the tourists slipped to be 3/98. Dravid was caught well short of his ground looking to attack the spin of Hogg, Gilchrist quickly removing the bails before the number 4 could find his way back to the crease.

India Press Continues - India 3/115 (20.0)

Mahendra Dhoni and V.V.S Laxman continued to push towards their target to be 3/115 after 20 overs at the MCG. The tourist did experience a slight set back when they lost 3 wickets quickly but young sensation Mahendra Dhoni continues to come to the rescue. Dhoni is unbeaten on 75 from only 60 balls while V.V.S Laxman is new to the crease on 5.

Dhoni Blazes Century - India 3/174

The Indian assault continued as Mahendra Dhoni blazed an unbeaten century to take India to 3/174. The young Indian stroke maker took only 81 balls to reach the magical figure. Coming into the match the Australian public had been made aware of the attacking nature of Dhoni, however many found it hard to believe as the young superstar smashed the likes of Lee, McGrath, Bracken and Hogg to all parts of the ground as he registered 11 boundaries and 5 sixes.

The run rate is now down to a gettable 5.6 per over. If Dhoni remains at the crease, there is little doubt that the target will be reached.
