Mahendra Singh Dhoni continued to delight the Melbourne fans as he brought up his 150 from only 131 runs to take inday to within 12 runs of victory in the 2nd VB match. The unbeaten 150 is the highest One Day International score by any Indian batsman against Australia in history.

Dhoni Wraps Up Stunning Victory - India 5/299

Mahendra Dhoni and Irfan Pathan combined perfectly to send India to a crushing 5 wicket victory over Australia at Melbourne. Indias newest sensation Dhoni scored an unbeaten 158 from only 135 to take the game away from the home side after India lost 3 wickets in quick sucession earlier in the innings.

Irfan Pathan played a perfect lower order supporting role, with 32 blasted from only 20 balls as he followed V.V.S Laxmans controlled innings of 55. The victory will install the Indians as outright favourites to take out the VB final after a crushing victory over a tired looking Australian side.

"The result tonight was very dissapointing for the unit as a team. Our batting could have been alot better with some more support from the top order and our bowling was well below par. We appeared to lack the spark to take the required wickets but we couldnt tie the run rate down. There is alot that we will have to learn from our display tonight to come back and be competitive in this competition."

Teams Renew Rivalries

Traditional foes India and Pakistan are set to renew rivalries as the teams prepare to do battle at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart. The teams come in under very different circumstances, Pakistan coming off a 4 wicket loss to Australia in the first match, while India come of a crunching 5 wicket victory.

The Indians return to the ground in which they wrapped up the 3 match test series riding a wave of confidence. The team are now installed as favourites after dominant displays over Australia, with Mahendra Dhoni and V.V.S Laxman starring in the recent defeat of Australia in Melbourne.

Pakistan Make Changes

Pakistan have made one signficant chance to the team to take on India in Hobart today with Imran Farhat coming into the side at the expense of fellow opener Salman Butt. The 24 year old Farhat will look to provide a greater attacking option at the top of the order with Salman Butt. Other than the switch at the top, the tourists will keep the same team that did battle with Australia in Melbourne.

"Obviously its a little dissapointing for Salman to miss out but at the moment its all about trying to find the best balance. Im sure that Salman will return at some point in this competition. I have full faith in Imrans ability and im sure that he and Shahid Afridi will work well at the top and get us off to a great start."
