i was actually thinking of that about 2 hours ago to be honest with ya slats (bright minds eh? ;)). i can remember when australia a played in the carlton and united series. i think it would be a pretty good addition. might try and factor it in after the series is done (maybe as a preparation for the west indies tour) what do you guys think?

Match Introduction - Coin Toss

GAME 4

"This looks like a really dry pitch produced today so we are going to have a bat on this first. It looks like it will play pretty flat early and hopefully in will turn a bit in the second innings. It may also break up a bit later on which may fall into our hands. We have 3 good spinners in our lineup so we should be able to utilise them. Firstly though we need to make a good score. The outfield is quick so we will definatly be looking at over 300."

Inzamam-ul-Haq
(Pakistan Captain)

"A bit of a dissapointing toss to lose as we would have loved to have had a bat on here and set the target. I agree with Inzi in that you would have to be looking at 300 or more on this pitch. If we can keep the score around 250 we would have done a very good job. A couple of new faces in the team today so everybody is really up for this, we have alot to prove after our disapointing loss last week."

Ricky Ponting
(Australian Captain)

Teams Take To The Field

Ricky Ponting lead his men onto the beautiful SCG pitch infront of a packed Sydney crowd to begin the 4th VB match of the series. Looking to bounce back from a defeat to India in game 2, Shaun Tait, Stuart Clark and Phil Jaques have come into the team. New South Wales duo Clark and Jaques will have the home crowd right behind them. Salman Butt and Shahid Afridi have also made their way to the middle to take on the new ball pairing of Lee and Tait.

Aus vs Aus A go for it Mwaugh :D:)

Lee Strikes 5th Ball - Pakistan 1/8

Brett Lee got the Sydney crowd to its feet with only his 5th ball of the match to leave Pakistan in trouble early at 1/8. The New South Wales paceman took the crucial wicket of Shahid Afridi for only 1 after the dashing opener was caught at Gully.

Brad Hogg took a superb catch going to his un-natural right hand as Australia looked to dominate early. Afridi will be kicking himself on a pitch which would have suited his style of play immensly.

Great story so far, mate.

But a little piece of advice...
Afridi should bat lower down the order. No. 6 or 7 would be ideal. He might be one of the world's most destructive batsmen, but he is not an opener. This is been proved in the last two years or so, as he has had much success lower down in the order (he also averages 40+ in Tests now). He is a player who likes to go after the bowlers, and I reckon he would be more useful coming in towards the end of the innings where he can score big and raise the runrate.
Also, I noticed that in a previous match [against Aus A] Afridi scored 65 off 122 balls!
Any Pakistani fan can tell you that this is certainly not how 'The Beast' plays! Have a look at any of his matches (especially the good ones like his 100 off 37 balls and 100 off 45 balls) and you will see that he has a strike rate of 100+ in almost every match. Hence his ODI career strike rate of 107. He loves hitting big sixes and always plays aggresively, no matter what the situation or whom the bowler.

Anyways, that's enough ranting from me. I love reading this story, so keep up the good work!

Lee Sends Inzamam Packing - Pakistan 2/11

The challenge of leading a young pace attack appears to have taken well to Brett Lee, after the paceman took the vital wicket of Inzamam-ul-Haq for only 1 to restrict Pakistan to 2/11. The paceman trapped Inzamam on the back foot infront of his home crowd to set alight the SCG. Inzamam looked to cut the ball away on the off side but could only manage an outside edge to Ricky Ponting at second slip.

thanks very much mate. i was looking at the scorecards from the previous matches against england and i did realise that he batted a bit lower down the order. its something ill have to have a look at doing for the next matches (its just that its a bit hard to alter the lineups effectively in cricket2005. but again thank you very much for the suggestion and ill look into it further

Tait Chimes In - Pakistan 3/21

Shaun Tait chimed in for his first wicket of the VB series with the dismissal of Mohammed Yousuf as Pakistan slipped to 3/21 in the 9th over of play in the first innings. Yousuf was found wanting when he reached to leg glance the tait in swinger, the ball flying off the bottom of the bat to Phil Jaques at square leg.
