The future of Australian bowling looks brighter after Australia dominated the opening 10 overs of the match against Pakistan in Sydney. Brett Lee took 2/17 from 5 overs while new man on the block Shaun Tait took a remarkable 1/7 from his 5 over spell. Salman but has been the only batsman to put his hand up with 14 from 27 balls.
Pakistan pair Salman Butt and Younis Khan calmed the early storm as the pair put on 54 for the 4th wicket to help Pakistan to 3/75 in the 18th over of play against Australia at the SCG. Butt (36) and Khan (23) have appeared far more settled against the pace attack of Clark and Bracken.
Brad Hogg picked up the wicket of promising opener Salman Butt for 36 as Pakistan slipped to 4/75 at the 19 over point of the match. With his first ball of the match, Hogg pitched the ball on leg stump, turning the ball back into the left handed Butt. The opener was drawn into a sweep shot which caught the top edge which carried comfortably to Adam Gilchrist behind the stumps.
It was a big wicket for Australia, as the pairing of Younis Khan and Butt were beginning to look in good touch. Pakistan selectors will now be hoping that Shoaib Malik can restore their faith and help his side.
Looked at your thread after a looooong time MWaugh and it is still good and interesting as before. Keep going with the good work. Aussies are in control of the match at the moment.
It has been tough work for Pakistan as they travel at only 3.85 per over at the 20 over point of the match at Sydney. Salman Butt did his best to help the side from the top of the order with a cautious 36 from 47 balls while Younis Khan has looked promising with 24 from 42 balls. Brett Lee (2/19) and Brad Hogg (1/2) have been the pick of the bowlers.
Excellent work by Australia. They are in a commanding position. The only bad thing is that if Pakistan keep the score at around 4 or 5 and over, with out loosing a wicket, they can still put up a good score.
Thank you to everyone who voted me the best story for the previous year. It is very much appreciated. Hopefully this story can keep continuing and break the record it has in its sights.
Again thank you very much
