Australian ODI tour of the United Kingdom and Ireland, June-July 2010

Very good bowling so far, hardly any loose balls, definitely bounce and movement in the pitch. Ball has beaten the bat almost every over. Might be much easier to chase for England. Paine has been completely tied down, his play seems to be to block a whole lot and the charge wildly. Ponting has come out and looked full of class, some ripping strokes so far, one backfoot drive was VINTAGE Punter, joyous stuff. Reminds me when Ian Bishop was standing dumbfounded mid pitch in 1995 after Punter had just smacked two absolutely stunning backfoot drives for four at the Gabba in a one dayer, i'll never forget those shots, the timing and poise was classic stuff. The only other guy around who was knows for those shots was Martyn, his style was simliar to Ponting back then, cracking backfoot player.

Robelinda added 2 Minutes and 34 Seconds later...

Ponting out, bugger. The short ball barrage over the past few overs has paid off.

On the one hand, it was a good effort to execute the tactics and get those wickets, but on the other, the conditions definitely haven't been batsman friendly. As much as the short ball has been relevant, it has come at the expense of pitching up and using the surface.

Yeah, the run rate is down, but you can fix that if you've got the resources. In the last match, Australia were just 2/82 after 20 overs. Extrapolating the resulting 50 over score suggests Australia could yet make 265. I don't think England would consider that to be success.

Excellent containing here from England. A score line of 4-1 looks a lot better than 3-2, so come on boys, give it a push!

And the award for most brainless shot of the series goes to White, what the hell was that?? Swann has caused us all sorts of problems, he just gifted him a wicket there, that was the lamest attempt at a hit down the ground. Now Marsh comes in at 5 in totally unfamiliar conditions, i'm sensing some mega fail here for the rest of the innings.

Nope it goes to Tim Paine. What an atrocious shot.

Paine needs to be dropped or moved to no. 7. He is way too slow and creates a negetive feeling amongst the team.

This is what the team should've been from the start

Watson
Marsh
Ponting
Clarke
White
Hussey
Smith
Paine
Harris
Tait
Bollinger

fearsome tweak I hate Paine, I can't wait for the Paine-lovers to be going "oh, but he'll have a good strike-rate for the tests!". It's not about strike-rate, it's about the fact that he's just getting bogged down and throwing his wicket away.
