Australian ODI tour of the United Kingdom and Ireland, June-July 2010

Marsh shouldve opened for sure, but still Paine has got the runs (slowly) and others have fallen around him, he doesnt seem to have the game yet to break out of the gameplan the Eng bowlers have devised for him. Clarke would be bogged down similarly in that situation too. Need a slogging left hander opening, Marsh/Wade whoever, even Hussey could do it.

Dave Warner TBH. Love watching him bat, far more entertaining than Paine, Haddin or Marsh.

Yeah Warner is the one, but we just cant fit another specialist bat in the team. We almost have a top 6 who dont bowl, Watson isnt doing that well and has been going downhill for most of this year, hardly ever bowls his 10. Clarke bowls once every 3 or 4 games and its mostly dross. White has given up on bowling it seems. So we really need a top 6 bat who can regularly bowl 10 well, maybe SMith can be that guy in the future, and it aint Hopes. We really miss Symonds more than anyone.

Lefties are the key for me, Gilly, Hayden, Bevan, Lehmann, need guys who can hit that cow corner!

It's so difficult for someone like Marsh to come in and play a different role in the line up without playing any cricket at all but he's doing pretty well here. Paine was a major fail today, he was making the pitch look unplayable.

Magnificent stuff from Marsh, he is a clean hitter. Will never forget those amazing IL knocks in 2008, such class in his hitting.

Love that straight shot from Marsh, he makes it look so effortless. Never knew he could bat well down the order as well.

Wade back-up keeper please. Told all you guys Marsh should open in the future. None of this Hopes/Haddin crap.

Well another ODI that England might win despite including the two passengers.

Bresnan 8-0-27-0 - but where are the wickets?
Wright 6-0-32-0 - whoever says he is in the side to bat should tell England that, and tell him how to!

Tidy enough, but four an over for no wicket just means the other overs the aussies can press on. That said Anderson has had one of his poor games, Swann may well have done enough to give England a chance by getting key wickets while Broad has also taken out danger men. Broad aside, who is going to pose a threat at the death and why has the captain not bowled out Swann?!?!? Risky having him bowling in the last 10 overs, another c*ck up in captaincy

Be more than lucky to get 220 here.

I think you may well get 230-240, maybe more. England have to either bowl Anderson, Bresnan or Swann at the death and two set batsmen may well take a few overs of 10+ runs. The two at the crease are going at a run a ball, so you should add around 50. Might want to push on a bit though, make use of wickets in hand. For me having six in hand for the last four is about par for the course, allows you some acceleration with every chance of batting out the 50 without having to avoid losing wickets ie not take chances

It doesn't look like there will be as much swing later as there was in the first innings so Australia really must pile it on.

And Marsh gets his 50, what a knock. Can he finish with a 100?

I'm thinking, does Watson have to open? if he cant get those big tons then shove him down, because Marsh can bat 50 overs and can really accelerate late, and is a big hitter. Marsh/Haddin combo?

And...out. Oh well. Smith, Hopes need to get 30 or 40 between them now.

Bresnan back, four straight away. Can't see how he can continue in the side unless he improves his bowling, he's batting too low in the order to contribute much there.

Not bad, not great, but you need wickets and only Broad and Swann have obliged so far

Couple of early wickets, KP with a runner to throw into the mix, and a tail that is long but not all that strong - Yardy (57), Wright (36), Swann (19no), Broad (4), Bresnan (27), Anderson (0no)*

*highest scores of the series in brackets

Hussey :hpraise:hpraise:hpraise

Hussey has turned this innings right around and now this will definately be defendable. 116 in the last 10 overs!
