Australian Tour of India, October 2010/11

Monalisa for a fast bowler eh :p

Pujara is onto 29* now. Lovely to watch two promising youngsters bat in tough batting conditions and scoring for the team. This is a great start and a lot more satisfying too since at the core of it is India's future players doing it.:hpraise:clap

Is Saurashtra in the Elite League then? Triples in the plate league, while impressive, are much more devalued.

MJ tried the old bouncer-bouncer-bouncer-bouncer-bouncer-bouncer-bouncer-bouncer-yorker trick.

At lunch it is now bedtime for me. Pujara is a real prospect for the future. Imagine this sort of batting line up

Sehwag
Gambhir
Pujara
Badrinath
Raina
Vijay
Dhoni

 me likey.

Hopefully when I wake up in roughly 5 hours India should wrap this up comfortably.

Lol, you still have hope in Badrinath? The guy's done. He will never ever play another test match for India again.

Looks real good. But I guess selectors have lost hope in Badri (if not, he would have played here in place of Pujara). I think Rahane would be another prospect for that middle order. If an opener gets out early, they can send in Vijay at one down (it would mean replacing an opener with an opener). Hope to see these guys add international reputation to their names and help us not miss the Big Three.

Dhoni taken in the same breath as those batsmen? Dhoni has to do more in tests to be called in that same breath.

The selectors have announced the ODI squad. India v Australia: Shikhar Dhawan called up, Sachin Tendulkar rested for Australia one-dayers | Cricket News | India v Australia | Cricinfo.com

No SRT, Harbhajan, Sehwag, Ojha, or Zaheer.

Potential XI: 1 Shikhar Dhawan 2 M Vijay 3 Virat Kohli 4 Yuvraj Singh 5 Suresh Raina 6 Rohit Sharma 7 MS Dhoni (c & wk) 8 R Ashwin 9 Praveen Kumar 10 Ashish Nehra 11 Vinay Kumar/Munaf Patel.
Permanently on the bench: Ravindra Jadeja. (Hey, a man can hope, right?)

I honestly don't see this XI winning a single ODI against Australia.

I don't think Vijay will last long tbh. Once he plays outside the subcontinent on some relatively bouncy tracks, his true weaknesses will show. Raina too maybe, but I'll reserve my judgment on him because I'm sort of hopeful with Raina.

I reckon Mukund should try and start batting as a middle order batsman in domestic cricket. It will be impossible for him to be anything more than a reserve opener as long as Gambhir and Sehwag are around.

Sehwag
Gambhir
Rahane
Pujara
Kohli
Raina
Dhoni

Other possibilities include: Dhawan and Mukund

I think that's what we might eventually see. I don't know why people don't see Kohli as a test prospect. He just oozes class. I think he will be able to make the switch as Raina has (so far, at least).

Brilliant batting by Pujara.
I am pretty disappointed by Hauritz, he hasn't been able to make use of those cracks.

BTW, is Sehwag injured?

Do you think he has the temperament? He seems another Yuvraj as far as attitude is concerned.

Temperament and attitude are two different things. He has already shown that he can accumulate runs in ODI cricket. I know that test cricket is a totally different ball game but skills are transferable and he does have a very good FC record.

As for his attitude, there was an interview a few months back with Kohli on cricinfo where he himself admitted that he used to have attitude problems. However, he has corrected that or at the very least is working his level best to correct it over time. I think the idea of replacing Dravid, Sachin or Laxman should bring him down to Earth anyways, if all else fails.

Yuvraj hasnt really cemented his spot in test cricket due to his weaknesses against the moving ball, against spinners, etc. Kohli seems to have less of those problems (in fact he is good against spinners). he has a good technique too. Got to see how he does. Kohli is also a test prospect.
