Australian Tour of India, October 2010/11

India and Australia have the system that can be explained as below :

India tour Australia every four years - 1999/00, 2003/04, 2007/08
During this period they play 4 Tests and a tri nation ODI tournament, which will now be scrapped due to the CA policy. In turn they will play a 7 match ODI series.

Australia tour India every two years.
This is cause they split the tour. On one tour they play their tests. In the other one, they play ODI's. However this time round, the BCCI has just understood that India ranks number 1 in Tests and don't want to lose this position soon. Thus, the need for Tests has arisen now. Else the Aussies were to play a 7 match ODI tour this time round.

India didn't lost a single test series under Dhoni's captaincy

Tour is still 1 and half months away and so much of discussion :) really waiting fir the series to start asap

India Australia is the next big rivalry in cricket. No one gives a damn about India- Pakistan any more. Even though we do not play Pak now, people really don't look forth to these competitions.
As for Australia, the game is hard and competitive. Something interesting always happens and both sides display a lot of aggression. There is bound to be so much discussion on this forum then.

What do you mean? There was so much hype around that Asia Cup encounter. A few years ago, it didn't mean much because we were playing each other all the time but now that matches between the two countries are so few and far between, they have so much more importance.

Oh come on, an India Pakistan game just does'nt evoke the same amount of excitement as an India Australia one. Its always very lively when India play Australia. Whereas against Pakistan,it is quite dull.
The general public doesnt care much about our results against Pak, they care more about the results against Australia nowadays.

India Pakistan match still interesting but India Australia the best

Are you kidding me, I dont know about you, but there was a huge hype and consequent celebration after India's victory in the Asia Cup. Not saying that against Australian's there is any less. But I doubt, rivalries ever fade. India - Pakistan will always be a huge thing!

I dont feel so.

Infact, I am more happy when we beat Australia in any format. Pakistan games are a drag.

I don't think that Indo-Pak games are that much hyped and all that they don't evoke the same amount of excitement as they do some years ago.

India Australia are really the best ones.

India-Pakistan rivalry was more due to the fact that we had so much animosity between the two countries after the Partition. Hindu-Muslim rivalry, etc made the contest a lot more spicier. Once people start getting more sensible and much more educated, the rivalry started dying down. But still some are trying to desperately spark the rivalry back again (trying to use 26/11, etc). As far as contests go, I am waiting to see India vs Pakistan test series in England. It would be awesome to see India's batsmen face up to the likes of Ameer, Asif, Gul, etc in the overcast and swinging conditions of England. I think the contest will be a lot more great if we play Pakistan in England. Anyway we are due to tour Pakistan before the FTP ends in 2012. So most likely, we will see an India vs Pakistan test series in England (I dont see Pakistan hosting regular intl matches again by the time the FTP ends)

Back to this series, hope Dravid finds form. He was very ordinary in SL.

My aussie lineup to play India:
Hughes
Katish( should bowl alot more on this tour)
Ponting
Clarke
Watson
Hussey
Paine
Johnson
Hauritz
Hilfy
Bollinger

and to complete a 14 man squad:George, Khawaja,Smith.

A team mix with youth( 5 guys 25years and under, all very talented and deserve to be there) and ofcourse plenty experience guys so that the inexperience guys can feed off. When Siddle is fit ofcourse he replaces George and Haddin when fit would replace Paine.Do the aussie selectors even have the guts to pick a squad like that.I doubt, we all know Khawaja or Hughes wont be there and North will be there instead. The quicker we realise that Hughes and Khawaja are the future and both need to be in the squad to India our path towards the future will be alot smoother.

I see the argument and honestly I like it, but I'm not sure we need to look to the future right now when we've got 2 massive series ahead. After the Ashes, then we can start selecting for 2013, but right now I think we have to play our best XI regardless of age.

well the useless BCCI has once again refused to have UDRS for this series despite huge controversies surrounding officials during the recently concluded tri series in sri lanka.
At the end of the day, its india(BCCI) who will pay the price for their selfish act.
