Australian Tour of India, October 2010/11

India has a great chance to beat us in India for the first time in what 20 odd years? we have dominated India in odi's in India for a long long time, whcih never seems to be pointed out. Ponting's captaincy has been outstanding in India, especially with massively understrength teams. For all his supposed weaknesses as a test captain I think he is quite easily the best odi captain of all time.

I think India just suck playing ODIs at home. Especially with our new young batting line up. For some odd reason they seem to bat better away from home, I guess where the ball comes on easier to the bat. Bowlers obviously will get more purchase elsewhere as well.

India is weakest at home. At least in the shorter formats of the game.

Good to see Hughes in there.Slectors going with youth :clap. All of those young guys are good enough so its not like they're picking youth for the sake of it.The other 2 guys i would like to see around the set up in the future is Mitch Marsh and Wade. Its not really their time quite yet.Hazlewood is a surprising pick but i think he's there more for the experience if anything else.North will play the first test , he was pick cause selectors are convince he's an all rounder so India is the place he'll most likely succeed if he ever does succeed.

North will get a pair in the 1st test, be selected for the 2nd Test and he will score 100 and 50*

I do not see Australia Winning this series. Not even ODI's . We really have had two really poor ODI Home Series against Aussie.

Big statement to make. We have lost the last two ODI series to Australia at home. Australia are very good in ODI's and that too in India.

Well it's not as though Tim Paine's an old guy either at 25. It's looking good for future competitions between Wade and Paine for the keeping spot. And add Usman to Mitch Marsh, maybe even Shaun too and suddenly Australia's starting to look pretty good for the future.

Indeed. Ponting mentioned in an interview the other day how well the Aussies have done in ODI cricket over in India, so it's obviously something he's proud of. Plus it takes the pressure of him personally, as he's always bagged for his last of Test success in India - with the bat. Good to divert the press with talk of ODI cricket :p

Not really tbh. I think we have won a fair few ODI series at home convincingly over the past 3-4 years. And although Australia have managed to beat us on the past 3-4 occasions the games have always been pretty even. We have lost 4-2, 4-2, and 3-2 in the last 3 bilateral series IIRC. So the series have always been close. Just that Australia have performed better in the crunch situations (Hyderabad 09 a prime example of that).

One of the best for sure. But not the best. Would defiantely rate Crowe, S Fleming, Cronje, S Waugh, I Khan & Ranatunga ahead of him still.

Aus v Ind 2010: Phillip Hughes picked for India Tests | Cricket News | India v Australia | Cricinfo.com

An early Christmas for me :banana2:banana2:banana2:banana2:banana2:banana2

Can't wait to see when Marsh will be picked, that will complete Australia's future Big 3. :D

Hughes/Marsh/Hazlewood/Smith is our next Hayden/Ponting/McGrath/Warne :yes

Smith next Warne, nah. He's a completely different player to Warney.I think he'll always be a batsman first and foremost and his leggies will improve.I agree with Waugh in Steve Smith we are about to see one of the most amazing cricketers we've seen in a while. His batting even at this early stage is tremendous, he is certainly a proper batsman. If he keeps on his improvement i would have him in the team permanently in two years time.By the way i think Cameron Boyce is the future when it comes to leg spin bowling in australia.

What makes you think so? I don`t remember us losing many ODi series at home since Chappel took over in 2005/6. I think the only team we have lost an ODI series to are Australia.

Lets do a series by series ODI record at home:

2005/6 : SL in India, India won 6-1
2006: England in India, India won 5-1
SA in India: Series finished 2-2
2007: WI in India, India won 3-1
SL in India, India won 2-1
Pakistan in India , India won 3-2
Australia in India, Australia won 4-2
2008: England in India, India won 5-0
2009: SL in India, India won 4-1
Australia in India, Australia won 4-2
2010: SA in India, India won 2-1

Apart from the above series, if you include the 4 series wins in SL (2 bilateral series, one tri-series and the Asia Cup 2010), the thrashing of NZ in NZ (not many teams have done that recently) we have a pretty solid record in ODIs whenever we have fielded a full strength side. The problem for us this year has been that we have had at least 4 or 5 first choice players missing in a couple of series which we have lost and the youngsters have dished out crap. I expect us to return to full strength against the Aussies

Thats not a record which you could warrant the `weakest at home` tag. Only Australia have managed to do well in ODIs in India and hats off to them for that. The others have`nt even come close to winning a series. Even the series on that above list which have finished as 3-2 or 2-1 at the end have had India winning the series very early and only losing the dead rubber games.

Actually, Australia have had a poor ODI record at home recently. They could`nt win a home ODI series since the 2006/7 CB Series till the series against West Indies last year. They lost to England in 2006, India in 2007/8, SA in 2008 and almost lost to NZ at home in a series which ended 2-2. So, apart from a couple of wins against the West Indies and the Pakistanis (who played like minnows in Australia), they have not been formidable at home at all.

However inspite of all that, they have had India`s number in India.

No offence sir. But its clear you dont follow AUS ODI cricket, if this is conclusion you have come to.

Why Waugh? He hardly captained the side.

Waugh was AUS ODI captain for a good 6 to 7 years i think.

Interesting choice by the selectors taking two tall bowlers. Obviously Hazlewood is there for the experience. No surprise in the batting, now down to North or no North.

India's ODI record at home (apart from the two Aussie bilateral series) has been utterly dominating. We are very good at home ODI's apart from those two bilateral series against Australia. If we win the upcomign 3 ODI's against Australia, we would have beaten them too.

yeah I agree, I can't remember even a single series apart from the aussies, I don't think we've lost any other series.
