Australian Tour of India, October 2010/11

ok wtf. 3 wickets in no time? when did this happen. It was like 60/0 few sec ago.

That's how India wins matches. Remember vs SA game. SA had a great start, and then they started to get all casual vs the Indian bowlers, and lost the game out of no where!

Lunch it is. Time for bed.

Kudos to the curator for making a decent pitch despite all the rain. Looks like this match could go to the wire if the wicket keeps breaking up.

Wow, I really want to punch this Neo anchor in the face.

Lesson from Watson and Ponting is to play straight when you can't trust the bounce. Watson tried to pull a low one, while the ball to Ponting was much steeper. This is one of the reasons why players like Sehwag and Tendulkar tend to avoid the pull.

Good luck getting that through to Ponting, he'll always pull. Watson was in that mood so no stopping him either.

With Watson, it's as elementary as saying don't pull a yorker. He played as far across the line as is humanly possible.

So 3 dropped catches should allow Hauritz to go at close to 4 an over? Khan and Ojha also had 2 dropped catches, didn't mean they decided to bowl crap and go at 4 an over.

The Indian batsmen are much better players of spin bowling than the Australian batsmen and were also playing with a more positive mindset. Paine and Johnson (neither of which are specialist batsmen) showed how easy it was to take it up against Ojha (in comparison to how the specialist batsmen were playing Ojha) when they were accelerating in Australia's first innings, our specialist batsmen were being too cautious against Ojha. I don't believe Ojha's figures would look so good if he had to bowl to the Indian batting line-up.

I'm sure people wouldn't be so harsh if Hauritz was younger, blonder and bowled legspin.

good to see Sharma being active, doing good and consistently appealing.

So you are saying we shouldn't play Hauritz or any spinner against India because they are too good at playing spin? Having your so called defensive spinner going at 4 an over, geez I'd like to know what we are considering a bad performance then.

Putting it in better words.

No team should play any spinner against India because we are too good at playing spin. ;)

No, where did I say that? You didn't really address any of my points. I'm not saying it was a good performance by Hauritz, but I don't think it was as bad as it is being made out to be.

All your points were excuses. India being more positive against spin should not mean we accept our spinner going at 4 an over. What is the point in picking a spinner especially a defensive one if hes going to just go at 4 an over?

They're not inherently invalid though. It would be pretty unfair to drop a spin bowler over not performing well against India in India. When playing against India in India, Warne averaged 43.11 and Muralitharan averaged 45.45. I guess Australia and Sri Lanka should have dropped two of the greatest spinners of all time whenever playing against India in India.
