Australian Tour of India, October 2010/11

Bring it on. India is always up for Aussies in test matches. As long as they are played on a pathetic excuse for a Test wicket.

Fixed :p

In all seriousness though, I don't see India winning this unless Harbhajan or Mishra have a fantastic series.

Last time Zaheer and Ishant were heros. :yes

Zaheer is slowly fizzling and we all know what Ishant is capable off, although Id say he still bowls semi decently in Tests.

The spinners on some rank turners will be the X factor.

Ball will turn in Mohali on 15th day.

Last series, almost none of the wickets were rank turners. Dont tell me that having a batting beauty (flat road) of a wicket helps India. It is of no use to both teams (because even Australia should be able to rake up runs on such wickets). For India, its now the reverse where a sporting pitch provides them a better chance of a win than these batting beauty wickets.

Beating India in India is very hard for any team in the world. They are the No.1 team in the world in tests right now (now some will say let them beat Aus in Aus, SA in SA, etc, but here we are talking about Australia playing in India).

We have Sreesanth too. Zak, Ishant and Sree in tests is still a threatening proposition.

This series will tell whether India is No1 or not. Aussie wont be easy this time around!!

Actually a flat lifeless pitch certainly did favour India - not because Australia can't bat but because when the pitch is flat you need to bowl a lot of overs to get wickets. That means you can't rely on just pacemen, you need a spinner or 2 to bowl overs and maintain pressure while the quicks rest up for another charge. And Australia had CAMERON WHITE as their main spinner :facepalm. So they couldn't use a spinner to hold the opposition steady, they had to bowl the quicks into the ground and hope that when White had to bowl that it was at 2 new batsmen or that someone would play a stupid shot and hole out to him. As a result the Aussie pacemen couldn't maintain their edge for that long on such lifeless pitches and warm conditions. That's why Brett Lee came home 10kg lighter and suffering from a virus.

But that's not really India's fault or the groundsman's fault. It's Australia's for not having a spinner. I'm just saying that flat pitches certainly worked in India's favour last series.

That made me laugh.:laugh Excuses after losing the test. Accept it if Aussies lost it, don't just pit silly excuses all over the page.
Rest will be settled in this series.

BTW, why are you guys digging the grave.

Did you not read the post I was replying too? It said that India had a better chance of winning 3-0 than Australia winning a game, which was stupid because Australia were in a better position to win two of the games.

All I say now is just concentrate on batting and beat them only with the Bat.
Improving bowling & getting to perfect stage overnight is impossible.

I do agree that we have around three months of time, but unfortunately, we've got a Champions League (Zaheer Khan, Harbhajan Singh, MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Murali Vijay, Manish Pandey, Virat Kohli etc are all set to participate:spy), where all the players are gonna play for their franchisee', which makes them addict for the night parties, X, Y & Z.
So, concentrate completely on batting and try bowling perfectly. Aussies anyways will be lead by Ricky Ponting, who just gives some message to opponents by speaking out "We're gonna win the next two tests and win the series" etc etc, which means that they're going to lose cheaply.

Chak de India:thumbs!

But they didn't even win one. Hence proves my point. ;)

And LMAO at 1-1 would have been a fair result. Lets not talk about fair results. 2003 and 2008 India's tour of Australia didn't have a fair result. ;)

Why do some people forget that rankings are assigned based on team's consistent performances against all teams over a period of time not on the basis of one series only?

India vs South Africa series earlier this year was an exception though. Because these two teams were very close on points.

So when India plays ████ teams they're worthy of number one but then when they couldn't beat South Africa it changes?

The crappy thing about the India-SA series was that it was a 2 match series. India lost by a mile in the first game and SA lost the same way in the second game and the seamers were the one who did it in the first innings of the second game at Kolkata. Who is to say that we would`nt have had India winning the series had they played a 3-game series. If you remember, last time in SA, India were 1-0 up after the first test as well. So a 2 match series is really not what you want when you have 2 good sides competing.

Also, inspite of the flat wickets when Australia toured India last time, it was Zaheer and Sharma who were the difference between the 2 sides. The spinners only did the finishing act, in my opinion. The stats might show that spin got equal number of wickets as pace in that series but it was the seamers who won us that series along with the batsmen. The Indian seamers outbowled the Aussie attack of Siddle, Johnson, Lee, Clark in that series.
